I am not familiar with SV at all but from what I heard (correct me if I’m wrong) SV has only one person responsible for making the evaluation and there are vets specialized in making X-rays for this evaluation - maybe that’s why it is easier to get passable result.
I am going to submit the X-rays on my next pup when he is 6 months old to OFA for a preliminary result. This usually gives you pretty good idea if the hips will pass at 24 months.

The method was "physical restraint". I was a bit surprised that the vet managed to get my girl to be still enough for an x-ray. The process was quicker than I had anticipated.
I told the vet I didn't mind a bit more costs if I could get a better x-ray, but he said the best x-ray is hard but this is likely about the best.
I wonder if she could have gotton a better grade if she was under general.

The last dog I did hips on, the vet would only put the dog under. I didnt have a choice. I thought that was odd since I have done many dogs and if I can get a good film on a dog that isnt asleep, then I go that route. I was told by my vet that OFA "advises that dogs be asleep" Im not sure if that's true. Doing hips shouldnt be an event IMO but has become one none the less.
