How's everyone's training going? - Page 2

Ripley has just graduated from sheep to cattle and barring one small mishap (getting too close into the heifer's hocks and getting a small kick for it) she seems to be doing well. Since I've taken up herding, her CKC obedience has been put on the back burner but she still heels beautifully; focused, prancing, tail up and wagging...who cares if her precision has suffered a little, i.e. forging, butt hanging out to the side.  I hope everyone's summer is going great and I wish you all the best for your dogs!

I been pretty darn busy raising 2  13 weeks old  .....a 12 month old and preparing my male Eon  for the Regionals and nationals  . Got my qualification score .......so back to training ;))

Kind of cutting down on my obedience work with Chaos.  I was told by some people while watching us in the show ring as he runs around the ring, that he is looking somewhat like a obedience dog.  He still thinks he needs to run beside me!  He is a little over a year old and has been in obedience classes since 14 weeks old.  1 question.  How do you get them to run out in front of you like they are suppose to in the ring?  If I tap him to get him to move out, he thinks that I'm playing and grabs the leash to play with it as we are running around the ring, unless I have the leash some what tight and up above his head so that he can't do that.   Any suggestions?

triodegirl that is tooooo funny!! Actually things are OK on my end. I hadn't done much training for at least 10 years. Just got on to other things after I titled my dog. I just bought a new pup so was bringing her out for socializing. She was biting like a fool but kinda quit on me lately, I think her teeth were hurting, we'll see. So just been doing some tracking with her, she is just 6 months. The fun part is my male, I had kept him for just a pet so he had no formal nothing but was bonkers for a stick. I had taught him a hold 'n bark, fussing and various things for his stick fetish! I brought him out at 1 year and he had NO interest at all. I began to bring him along when I was taking the pup for socializing. The light went on and he is doing very good bitework. He is on a hard sleeve as of day one, and doing a hold 'n bark, runaways, took a couple stick hits, and a mini courage test all from his stick education in just 5 sessions. LOL! It brings back good old memories.....

RIkka, 19 Months, great on 1 minute sitz, and on long platz, fuss like she is superglued to me both on and off lead, graduated from bite pillow to intermediate sleeve, hits like a ton of bricks .  Working hard on better focus and ignoring the other dogs.

LOL ScHbabe.  I have a certified vacuum cleaner killer here too.  Bites the Dyson and lifts it up off the ground if I let her.  :)  Another hobby is hose killing, she's on her third one!  However I think that I may have snookered her on my latest fixing job.  We'll see if the PVC piping holds up!  Then mowing the lawn is always fun as I have two that like to go after that!

And yes we are working on Schutzhund too as well as some herding again.  :)  Both dogs have their HGH titles.

Man, I wouldn't know where to start! LOL  All of mine are in the 9mo stage, and I think they have forgotten how to platz! LOL

Gouri - Tracking is great, and right on the mark for the most part.  Aggitation work - very intense, clear headed, strong full mouth grip, but still takes alot to get him to bark.  Heeling is great, again, intense consentration on me, will sit, stand, but he forgot how to platz! LOL

Phoebe - a little to fast on her tracking, wants to rush through it, but still right on the money!   OB/heeling is good with nice concentration on me, she will platz, but she has to "think about it" now.  Aggitation work is good.  Nice "bark", full grip, very intense.

Meika - ohhhh, my class clown! LOL  Tracking off the chart! :-)  Super OB/heeling - so very eager to please, sticks to me like glue.  Prances around like a Tenn. Walker! rofl  Aggitation work - very clear head, strong grip, barks like crazy...she can't get enough of it.

Isa & Kala - Wonderful tracking - nose of the ground the second they come out of the crate.  Will go through, over, and into any terrain.  Isa is very intense in her OB/heeling, Kala will look at me about 1/2 of the time.  Not doing aggitation work with these 2 anymore, training for SAR work.

Uli - tracking is very nice, takes her time to find every treat.  Nice ob/heeling, but doesn't want to look at me.  However, she still sticks to me.  Aggistation work is good, but she can take it or leave it.  She will bark, and when she wants to, has a very nice grip. 

And last, but not least, Pita Piper (PITA stand for pain in the ass...that's my daughters Bel. Mal)   Nice clear head, very intense in all aspects.  Coming along wonderful! :-)

Tried the hot sauce on various things when Rikka was a little pup.  She loved it and came back looking for more LOL
