no really, after these negative posts and pointless rants. God bless everyone. I hope we can turn around the feelings of hopelessness and be happy.

@Bubba

The 15 dogs a day may have been true many years ago. It has gotten better, less incidence of immediate use of deadly force. Social media, public shaming and use of the 4th amendment to hammer those with a need to shoot first has reigned this problem in a bit. We need to acknowledge its getting better and continue to hammer those dept's and individuals who immediately go to deadly force. I have for many years set news alerts fishing for each occasion an officer shoots first on dogs. These alerts are coming in much much less. Always work to be done but a pat on the ass once in a while goes along way.

As a black man, I often worry that I am putting my dog at risk by having her with me in the car. What if I get stopped? What if the officer's reaction toward me costs my dog her life? Should she be crated at all times in the car? That would mean far fewer car rides for her. Thank goodness I had the sense to buy a mom-mobile as my first car. I got a Volkswagen Passat station wagon just because I thought the cops would pay it less attention. I don't think I would ever have a dog that is territorial about my car until I leave the US. Once I buy a house, I will have to hope there isn't ever a reason for the cops to visit. I just hate being around guns man... it makes me extremely uncomfortable and I hate that other people have the right to bear arms in my vicinity. I don't feel they deserve the privilege by default. Gun ownership should be an earned privilege, even for some LEOs... jmho

As a white man I'm two times more likely to be shot by the police then a black man. For me I am much more concerned with my dog being injured in a collision or lost afterwards. These are far more likely scenarios that I may encounter, much more then LEO harming my dog while in my vehicle. Unrestrained dogs are also very dangerous projectiles in fast braking of collisions scenarios. A harness while no guarantee could provide some peace of mind for you Watson during any leo stop.

Wow , what in the heck does that mean as a black man ? This post seems to be bashing our police officers & doesn't belong here on this forum. They are hard working individuals who risks their lives everyday to protect citizens no matter what color you are. Oh & im sure there are some bad apples in the bunch just like everything else. But to go on & on about this is weird to me on this forum. Now we've got people with dogs insinuating cops are dog killers. Whoa! I just can't believe this post. I guess this site supports free speech but I don't want any parts of this crazy anti copy rhetoric bcuz that's exactly what it is. There were some decent comments in the post though . Thanks

" As a white man I'm two times more likely to be shot by the police then a black man."

I hate to say this but you are wrong.

As far as letting this thread go on. There have been legit police/dog shootings and ones that are very questionable to say the least. We aren't anti-police for allowing threads like these, there are tons of great police officers and a much smaller % of bad police officers and unfortunately as in all things the few screw it up for the many. We are dog lovers and we should discuss and agree/disagree on all the issues that affect our dogs including this topic.

Mr. Deacon is onto some. None other member able to violate the rule of site always without disappearing. also, this OP always get support from Admin telling people to stay silent and not act on believe and civic duty. look to me rule of site apply only to some member and not admin when writing comment and part of discussion. admin never should do that with same. free speech is oneway street here and make me sad. you lucky much all police are good and not read site and not come to house of liemakers when called.

@GSD Admin

The statement is correct.

Cops killed nearly twice as many whites as blacks in 2015. According to data compiled by The Washington Post, 50 percent of the victims of fatal police shootings were white, while 26 percent were black.

Programming by television and reality, differ often.
