No problem

@Suzie - the vast majority of dogs I breed come back to me for training.
A well bred and well trained dog, can protect for real, track be highly obedient even when working civil at distance.

The distance and terrain I track my dogs - is head and shoulders above what is required for sport and dito - the actual protection element say in IPO, is minor league in comparison to how I personally train my dogs.

Now I accept there is no title at the end off my efforts, however the silver lining is - seeing a dog on a verbal command take down a civil decoy 150 yards away, whilst the dog is muzzled and return instantly on a recall. (to name but one example)

Many people are wising up to the fact that just because a dog bites a sleeve, does not equate to anything of meaning. (talking titled and non titled)

I am generalizing because there are also titled dogs who are absolute legends.

Basically, as I said before - if you are gonna advise on training a dog to be civil and balanced, best to stop talking and start showing.

Glad you have a Dalmatian who has fun in the muzzle, and not at all surprised you like VK4's fun vids, each to there own Suzie, you continue worshiping those certificates, and I will continue to place absolute trust in my own training and my un certificated, GENUINELY capable and extremely well balanced dogs.

Regards
Gee

@Suzie, I meant to also say, I am no expert, however, when it comes to training civil, and socialy balanced - I know my stuff.

Yourself and VK4 - are both at the same level of ability / knowledge when it comes to this very subject, no offence intended. But please do not compare my dogs / training with your fun Dalmatian and VK's efforts.

Alternatively, just show us how it's done.

Have said to you before - it's easy isn't it, no dancing decoy / no suit /  no sleeve, now go away Suzie and do it.

Stop talking theory, alternatively just try shuting up.

Regards
Gee

"- or just try shuting up."

Nice, why don't you try it.

Can you stop using people's threads to promote yr ego and yr business.

Go pay for an ad, telling women to "shut up", says it all.

Just responding to Suzie's vindictive diatribe.

Ok, should have read - put up or shut up.

Or maybe just - shtum.

If people are going to criticise be constructive and help too.

I'm far from expert, but heres my thoughts, please add im trying to learn about what I'm looking at in dogs myself

Yogi asks dog follows the sleeve what does that tell you about his drive.
The dog is in prey, and probably conditioned to his normal training. Like teasing a child with a toy, if we tease and then give the toy he knows whats coming next, and feels no threat to himself or his toy to really fight for for it.

VK might have to go back a few steps to turn the dogs defense/fight on,and due to the dog being conditioned to his training, its going to take more pressure to give the dog the impression its real.
As an example we're already to starting to turn my guy on with some light stalking and posturing to get that defense/fight/suspicion up and going, so he thinks the decoy is a bit crazy, sometimes hes fun but other times hes just an idiot. As he matures more pressure will be applied to get him in that real mindset.

The decoy keeps backing away, and doesn't present any real threat or pressure to the dog in this game, so the dog has no reason to up the ante. The decoy needs to stalk and intimidate the dog more, and not for too long right now, because the dog could end up locked somewhere between prey and defense and unsure. Just get the dogs focus away from the toys for now and build his confidence in defense then give him the reward/prize.

I realize the decoy is learning too, and the video is edited so not trying to offend, but any constructive criticism is helpful.
