A good friend of mine has a Beauceron and is doing French Ring with him

Is it just me or anybody else notice that the beauceron looks like half Dobermann and half Rottweiler? It kind has the Dobermann head and then the body looks like a rottweiler?

As for the gentleman who mentioned a dogo argentino they're very good dogs. They're very smart and very trainable. They're very powerful and bred for hunting wild boars, cougars and etc. They ver specifically bred not to be dog aggressive because they have to work with other dogs together.

Debbie Skinner, les Ombres Valereux Beaucerons in Aguanga CA is probably one of, if not the most knowledgeable Beauceron breeder in America.  She has many conformation titles as well as FR titles on her dogs .  In fact, a dog from her breeding Ch. Uscar "Leo" des Ombres Valeureux, took BOB at Westminster this year.  She also bred TIm Welch's dog Avatar des Ombres Valeuruex who I believe just got his 1st leg of FRIII and competed in France two times at both FRI and FRII.  You can find out more about her breedings at http://www.pawsnclaws.us/beaucemales.htm .  Debbie also bred my retired H.O.T. Malinois, Ripp des Ombres Valeureux SchHIII, IPOIII, that I competed with at the 2005 FMBB IPOIII World Championship in Aue, Germany.  If anyone in America can answer your questions about Beaucerons, it's Debbie, she is very involved with the Beauceron Club of America and Beauceron Rescue.

I have owned 4 Beaucerons. I started schutzhund with a Beauce! She was a large female. She had excellent ball drive....tracked very well and was very serious in the bite work...too serious! Her main issue was noise sensitivity! fireworks made her run! I owned a female that was a ring champion. She was a very tough dog! I use to show them in rare breed shows. I like the breed...very loyal! I got my dogs from Debbie!

I'm afraid I don't have much to contribute here. I have only ever seen one Beauceron on a SchH field, (North Valley SchH Club) back in the 90's. It was a complete wack-job, not safe to be around, spontaneous leg-biter. Probably just a poorly bred dog, especially considering the owner was one of those wacked out psuedo-military weirdos. He bought the dog out of Soldier of Fortune magazine, wore combat boots, fake fatiques, a weapons belt with mace and who knows what else on the training field, and talked about ridding the USA of foreigners and minorities.
Hard to have a positive memory, seperate the dog from the equation, even now.

I think the merle is cool looking, but would worry about the dog tearing off those dew claws on rough terrain.
