Raymond, as usual your post shows ignorance.

No one has seen Vick taking a job at a shelter because HE'S BEEN INCARCERATED IN LEAVENWORTH.  Oy.  Then had a few months of house arrest. Plus if you'd been paying even half attention, you'd know that part of his probation is doing animal-related work.  (I'm just disappointed it's with HSUS).   As to his money, he has a court-appointed trustee that oversees anything he has, and his other creditors, i.e. anyone he owed money to (mortgages, legitmate business, credit cards, anybody) have to be paid first.  Vick doesn't get to decide who gets what, the trustee does.  You rant without knowing the facts.

Mindhunt - he's apologized repeatedly.

I personally believe he'd still be doing it if he hadn't been caught, but he was caught and punished.  And I don't think he's going to want to go to Leavenworth again.

Tess, I have no problem with Mr Vick going back into the workforce.  I stand by my statement that pro football is a very elite job, a privilege.  Mr Vick had his chance.  There are many other talented young people that would do well given the chance.

Mr Vick has a college education.  He can find employment in some other area.

They have a good quarter back, what are they wanting more than a bad reputation and alot of riots?   Dumb, dumb, he is no good anymore, but Gosh he certainly looked like he does.  Somebody might pop him off.

Steelers almost signed the jerk.  Wonder if he will kill a dog everytime he messes up?  Rotten human

Here's my two cent. I believe our value on human life is disappearing fast. A man kills some dogs, he gets hassled by everyone about how the punishment was to light, or he does'nt deserve another chance or whatever. No one is screaming the same about the Clevland Browns player in Florida that killed a man driving drunk coming from a club at 6 in the morning. No jail time and only probation. Not to mention no flack about him playing football without missing a game or a pay check. He killed a man, come on! And you bash a man over a dog.Was it wrong, of course. But to hold  him hostage over a couple of dogs to me is unnecessary. The bible says we should forgive, for those that know the bible know what I'm talking about. It was not even anyones dog on the board. Lets be more concerned about the guy that lost his life for going home after a night shift to be killed by a NFL player because he decided to drink and drive. Story never even made it to mainstream media. As I said, the dogs did'nt deserve it, but he served his time and humiliation enough. Lets care more for  humans then everything else will be taken care of. Including DOGS. I pray that God will touch yor hearts to  forgive him. Just imagine it was you for something you did. Easy to point fingers but we have all done things we are not proud of.Just did'nt get expose.

Thanks

I believe I stated this before....Look at the way pitbulls have been sensationalized by the media..Vick grew up in this culture! Look outside and count the number of pitbulls (pitbull mix) you see...especially in urban areas...and the ownership is colorblind! Where I live...jersey shore...you find the carcasses on the golf courses! I went to college in Atlanta, Ga...1980...big time dog fighting...mucho dinero...then and now.
Both instances have nothing to do with the average professional ball player. These 2 individuals were wrong period...no matter what profession they were employed by. I do agree with the whole human-dog analogy!

This is an interesting view.  You're saying he can have a job, just not that job.  But no matter what job he took, there would be "many other talented young people that would do well given the chance."  It's natural that he'd go back to what his job was before, whether it was football or office work.

You want to give him a chance to survive, but he'd better not make a high salary or be successful.

That doesn't make any sense.

Football an elite job?  A privilege?  It's a lucrative job that very few people get to do, and they have to work very, very, very hard all year round to even make a practice team.  If he doesn't do the work and have success, he won't stay in football.

Quotes from a couple articles:

"While U.S. life expectancy is 77.6 years, recent studies suggest the average for NFL players is 55, 52 for linemen."

"The average NFL player plays just 3.52 seasons and loses two to three years off his life expectancy for every season played."

You seem to be stating that only those people who play sports can make a good salary or be successful.

Let's look at another sports figure, Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder.  He made a very disgusting comment within his job as a sportscaster and he was never able to get another chance.  He never electrocuted any living thing, either.  Simply ran his mouth.  He never served any jail time, just ran his mouth.

Let he who is sinless cast the first stone.

How many of you eat meat, promoting an animal factory system that treats pigs and cows far worse than Vick's dogs?
