I bred V Gabi vom Arolser Holz to H'Doc last time, very happy with the results, particularly the strong heads and good bone. We are breeding Gabi to Bandit this time. I am very excited about this breeding. I hope they all come out like baby Bandits.
I think he will be a very important stud dog in this country. Too bad for me I don't own him. Ha ha ha
I guess that says it all for me. LOL

I LOVE the look of this dog. Too bad it looks like his hips aren't that great.... Disager's Caezar:

What about Olek? http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/510461.html

He is pretty drool-worthy himself, and has lines to Troll, Yoschy and Nick. I have heard good things about the looks of some progeny but have not personally seen any.

The dogs which are mentioned above are individual dogs which for the most part are still actively being used.
Therefore, it is beyond me how anybody can say that they improve conformation. How about showing some examples?
Eliot von Prevent? A fairly young dog who is very popular right now! He looks nice and dark, but his upper arm is very short and I suspect that this can be predominantly passed on. The same goes for Bomber. I think that Molly's Bandit has a better front than Bomber.
J-litter vom Talka Marda: They are the "in" dogs right now, just as Zamp Thermodos is/was for the showline people. With the sheer quantity out there, it would really be bad if there weren't some good looking workinglines out there.
Nick? Some of the offspring have light piercing eyes. Sue, if you read this, please note that I wrote "some" (lol).
Alex Eisenhaus? I had a nice litter of four females from him, but the one I kept back turned out too stretched for my taste, so I sold her to a police officer.
Alex vd schwarzen Seeperlen? His photo is beautiful, but does not really convey how he looks in reality. I saw him twice close at the last two German Sieger Shows. My females have more bone and are of the same size (almost). He is a correct dog but I found in my research that you can find that quite often in the Lasco Westfalensproß-line (size and substance factor). Just take a look at another attractive Lasco-son, V-Uras vd schwarzen Nister, same thing. I believe the Füllers used him for a litter, but did not keep anything.
I like workinglines but would never use a dog for breeding who does not have a V-rating in conformation. And if you truly want to improve things, you need to take a good look at your own dog, what he/she produces and the potential breeding partners. I found that continously outcrossed dogs most likely will not reliably produce anything of note. It is a big gamble which a breeder cannot efford to play due to the female's short breeding cycle of her life. If your dog is not linebred, look at a breeding partner with heavy linebreeding on super producers. Make sure that these linebred dogs produced what you are looking for.
When I bought my Chuckie, I did a lot of research and looked at hundreds of photos, studied pedigrees. I decided to breed her to V-Paska vom Salztalblick who was a very correct but somewhat headstrong dog (he challenged his handlers). In addition, 70% of his breed surveyed offspring was in Class 1 and he reproduced his rear angulation. Chuckie whelped 5 puppies, and 4 were really nice in structure. We kept two and they both live in Germany for the moment. The male so far has a SchH2 KKL1 and SG-rating in the youth class at 19 months of age. His sister just went over there about 6 weeks ago and is scheduled for a BH within the next one or two weeks. But we were already told that she is even faster in bitework than her brother. She is trained by somebody who works for the North Rhine Westphalian State Police.
Due to my success with the O-litter, I am seriously looking at V-Nolan vom alten Wingertshaus. A bit stretched but really nice conformation. Anybody who looks for conformation in workinglines, will find the B-litter vom Adelmannsfelder Land (Buster and Bito). Nolan is the product when combined with Paska. The only problem (at least with Buster) is the hip production. There could be shortcomings.
More workingline dogs that promise a chance of good conformation are the Stadtfeld boys (Metin, Uno etc.), Yoschy Döllenwiese (some offspring are a bit washed out), Fax vom Tor zum Sauerland, Bandit van Gogh and Vito Waldwinkel (be watchful for fronts).
We had a thread on our GSDWorld board with German contribution with lots of links and photos. When I have time, I will look through that and maybe post some links here.

Very good post Chris. We are on the same page, for sure. :-D
I will also add that my Carol (T) has V/KK1 progeny who are now themselves producing same.  I pray he will remain fertile a long time.  The quality of his progeny had a lot to do with why I bought and imported him!
