Interesting theory. May well be true. Wonder if anyone has researched it statistically ?

Regarding A.I. I cannot see why it wouldn't be recommended. Unless you are talking frozen/surgical? Then I can see it being far from ideal. But a side by side or fresh chilled non surgical I would think would be perfectly fine. Two of my personal girls were A.I. for their first breedings, but this was side by side not surgical. The first of the 2 females was only over bred A.I. and averaged 7-9 pups. The second, who was only A.I. on her first breeding had 9 pups.

Thank you, Hundmutter and AkitaPedigrees.

Based on where I am, even if we did AI with the closest acceptablle stud I've found, it would still have to be frozen.

If frozen wouldn't cause problems, one of my choices is in Czech Republic. However, he's not under consideration because travel would be prohibitively expensive. Even if I could afford it, unless I could have my dog in the cabin with me, I wouldn't want to do it anyway because I wouldn't want to put her through two trips in a cargo hold, especially for that long of a trip, in heat, and the breeding in between. And then there's the potential for accidents (or maliciousness) if I'm not with her at all times.
