I remember a couple of years ago, they were talked about all over the other dog forums. I heard when the old owner was running it before his son that it was a top kennel, but went down hill since he passed away years ago.

My last rottie came from Kimbertal 13 years ago. I paid $300 for him because he had a long coat which was especially rare for that breed. I  didnt know about the questionable fire there a couple of years before, I really went to see the wolves. The best dog I ever had (not including my new guy). Whenever I would take him to stores like Petsmart, the animal shelter people would chide me when they found out where I bought him from. Like someone wearing a fur to a PETA event.

My dog needed 2 surgeries on his eyelids, Bob covered it, per the warranty. I could tell he wasnt too crazy about my strange looking dog being seen by the other customers, so he would whisk him away to the back as fast as his old a$$ could. There is more that made me cringe, but I will spare the details.

My dog lived to be 10, no displaysia, cancer, as good a "pet"  I could ask for. I have no regrets.

I went there a couple of years ago when I was thinking of a rottie again, but I think I lucked up with my guy. I think paying the $2500 for an out-of-standard dog is too much of a risk considering I only see one side of the pedigree before purchase. They must be doing right to stay in business all this time (I think the yarnalls have owned it all along)

I saw on the website that they brought some new studs in. The Big Dog Kennel one was perplexing, but why not...its  right up their wheelhouse. Grossly oversized untitled dogs to appeal to the masses who want the giant, big, bad dog...

Celtic Glory I was there when Old Bon Yarnall  had the control firmly in his grip. He either slept or was running and yelling at his employees. I lived in the same apartment ( different room)  with his son Bobby and he was ....well let me say he was not as good and as matured  as the old man.  As far as the price $450 30 years ago had little more weight then it does have now. Back then I have bough 4x4 truck F250 for $9260. Now i bought such truck for $50000.Galon of gas was $0:75 not it is $3.75.

As far as expected Kim's stab on a  my definition of puppy mill. I'll say that puppy mill is not defined by the amount of dogs it produces but by the quality of the dogs and care the dogs get. I will tell you that the quality of their dogs and care the dogs got there  back then was better then in 95% of kennels who have 10 dogs and produce 1 litter a year.  The place was spick and span. Dog shit picked up  all day by asigned employee.

This is just about when I was there:

A Kimbertal mother nursing her puppies. Spring 1982.

Havidad who owes the kennel now?

by havidad on 08 July 2014 - 00:07

I am certain the Bob sr. owns it there would be a bunch of detractors celebrating if he sold it.. He is about 86-87 now and I think his wife is same age if not older. He just doesn't make appearances nowadays it seems. Last time I was there, he had the one assistant, a guy from overseas, who is pretty knowledgeable and knew which dogs to buy puppies out of (father and mother lines). The puppy on their site now is from the male he recommended to me(Hil). Most of the other employees like Rocky. I havent been there in about 2 years, so not sure if he is still there. i dont know...they seem to know their market, no rottie puppy seems to sit on their site for longer than a few days. The price is up to $3K for a Sup Size & Quality...sheesh. In fact, their threshold for Superior size has gone down but the price is still gone up. Sup size used to be 160lbs +, now its 130 or something.

Wow so the old man is still around.....  You know one  may not agree with  the way they breed their dogs for size,...and except Nita who was very nice  Bob and Bobby ( JR) treated me like shit and I was no alone being treated like that...... but I have to hand it to a guy he knew the market and the dogs from the breeder's point of view. I may not like him much but I most definitely ( based on my personal experience) I respect him tremendously.
