I'm very biased toward Czech WL, and I can't pick just one or one over all the others, so here are my picks. Also can't follow directions LOL

U.S.:
Hans at AlpineK9
Sarah Clark at Kennel Hrdinneho Odvahy

Canada:
Christina and Lucas Kaiser at Kennel Von Wendelin

Europe:
Jinopo
Aritar Bastet

Klossbruhe, Timo wasn't apparently even what I'd call a very 'good' Sable - i.e. my mate who was seated in the Stadium when he was up for Sieger said he looked 'black & white' ! No you are right I haven't myself been in Germany to follow the breed 'politics' from inside the country - but I wonder how much any visiting GSD enthusiast would discover if they were on the ground. We can only go by what we see in print, & hear, - plus what those breeders who do go over tell us, (and they may only meet & talk to some like-minded people rather than a wider selection) - and from the perspective of being in Britain and interested (mostly but not exclusively) in our Show world, what I learn from just across the Narrow Sea (Channel) is very different from the perspective I get when I'm on here (across the Atlantic).

Besides which, what e.g. Charlie seems to be doing with his dogs is what I would do, were I breeding, (and many committed UK breeders are doing), not what the US breeders appear to be doing, in the majority - staying true to the German SV ideal of a 'complete' GSD that is pretty but can also Work. I know there are 'Working Kennels' in Germany, there are in England too. And we are in danger of such a 'split' forming here. But some of those specialise to the extent of not caring what their dogs look like; what their movement is like; whether their dentition is correct [or just adequate for holding a bite]. They do not all employ or place importance on the Survey. Half of them don't do much in the way of health tests. Half of them are clearly every bit as bad as Eastern Europeans in selling dogs they know are not even very suitable as strong Working dogs, whether they look like GSDs or not, they are in it for money & not to preserve or develop the Breed. This is not the legacy of von Stephanitz and its not the legacy of Karl Fuller. If the SV get it wrong, from time to time - as they do - that does not mean breeders should not do their best to fulfil that legacy. American references to just not relevant Showline breeding are not taken well, in that context.

As to the intention of THIS thread, Txarkoeta confused matters from the Off by the title of the topic being a general 'best', and his / her OP referring to Working best. People wanting limited answers should consistently limit their queries.

I asked for the best breeder of the last decade in your opinion, nothing more, just like GsCat has done for example or Delta von Avalik

I expect Charlie read the Title of the thread. Which, as you are now posting, was the 'best breeder'. IE ANY breeder. But having put that subject up, you then mentioned Working in your first post, and subsequently repeated Working in your 2nd, when asked to clarify.
Its your thred; are you saying you don't understand why there may be more than one interpretation ?

Let's not get into a show line/working line debate, stick to the topic now that we have established what that is. Best working line breeder in the last decade I believe.

I have edited the title so that there is no more confusion so no need to mention Showlines again in this thread, thank you.

Okay, in that case, going to start a new thread, because I have a question that needs answering!

Hund,
There were SV judges, not the majority, but several including Peter Messler, who, unlike you, thought Timo was a good Sable. Messler wanted to make a point in support of sables by promoting him.

Like your mate, I was in the stadium. Unlike your mate, I was at Hans Peter's trailer at the camping area just after the show having beer with him, his friends and his girl friends as he told us the entire story from his point of view. Though on friendly terms with Peter Messler, I never asked him what happened and I am sure he would have had a different version. But Messler was known to tell people not to bring their dogs back for another year. One past example was when he told Martin Gobl not to bring back Karly Arminius. Gobl did it anyways...and Karly went VA2. He should have gone VA1, but Gobl was no friend of Messler and HPR was a good friend, good enough to tell PM to back off, so Rikkor it was...

Duke, obviously there are many Eqidius dogs behind today's great dogs, but today Eisernen Kreuz has and has bred very good dogs, Dinoso, Dina, Debby, Knox, Nitra ... Teufelskehle or Mohnwiese ... also good kennels. But I respect your opinion. Thank you

while not a large breeder apparently, the kennel "Staatsmacht" is showing up in quite a few more recent pedigrees.
