We have 2 GSD who spend some time indoors each day (more time in winter) and the Shark that I posted us what we used until recently. It does a good job picking up hair on carpet and lino - it has a powered brush head which you can turn on or off ad just use the suction. The really nice thing about it is its light weight and affordability. The stick design works well.

Does anyone have the Dyson V6 or V8. The V6 was rated #5 in the top 10 carpet cleaners for dog hair. It has a short run time (20 min), but so do I. I last about 5 minutes.. 10 tops. But the dirt/hair container looks really small. Looks like I would have to carry a bag around with me to keep emptying it. Also I read that you have to keep holding down the button, and that can be a strain on my hands.
