If you are interested in doing Sport/SchH with the dog, why wouldn't you buy from parents/grandparents who are proven/tested in that area? Assuming the PDB is updated, neither parents and 3 out of 4 grandparents are not titled at all. To me, that would not make sense. If I were looking to buy a puppy for something like SchH (or other protection sports), I would want to see parents and all dogs in the pedigree titled/proven. That is just me. There are plenty of litters from proven/titled parents. Why not consider those?

If you know and like the sire and dam .. ie they are the type of dogs that you want for the job or hobby that you wish the dog to do or train for it should be a good breeding. Possibly look into the vertical pedigree for physical or mental defects but if you know the breeder and trust their judgement then nothing in this mating to worry about. Again the pups will be like mom and dad .. also look into uncles, aunts, and other breeding results with the same sire and dam or their closest relatives.  The pedigree has lots of great dogs with proven track records in the past .. dogs that I would like to have in a pedigree .. the only question is do the young sire and the dam bring forward the traits of their bloodline.  Given the bloodlines I would be cautiously optomistic that the sire and dam are in the family tradition and a title is not going to change their genetics if you are confident that mom and dad are the real deal and have seen them in person.  The breeder should know the personality and mental toughness and stability of the sire and dam.  Puppies are never a sure thing but likely to be like mom or dad with a blending of some traits.

Just curious, would the op's chances of getting a dog to do sport better from titled SL than second generation untitled from WL?

Define sport ( which one ) and better Gustav ?? Chasing one more point ?? There is sport ( many types ) and then there is competitive point chasing got to be #1 competitors who value the dog for the titles and championships they win more than their unique personality and tool sets. Unless the OP is chasing a "no expense paid" trip to the WUSV or a berth in the FCI IPO championships it does not matter much?? If the owner enjoys the dog and the dog enjoys the sport and spending time with their human that is all there is that matters.  How about half show line and half WL .. depends on the dog and their human more than labels.

No Bubbaboo, don't care to debate with you. I think GSD 27 understands my point. Whether they agree or not is immaterial. Your understanding of this breed is further than I have reached at this point. The OP is asking for opinions on whether the genetics of the breeding would be a good fit for sport. ( since dogs don't pass training to pups but rather genetics). If I am wrong in what the OP is asking, I hope the OP corrects me. Either way, if this is what OP is asking, send me a pm and I will try to help to best of my ability or refer them to someone who can help.

Apparently, a pup doesn't inherit gsd genetics unless all dogs in the ped have been titled in which ever venue (be it s&r, sch, dock diving, herding) the owner wants to play in. On the other hand, how do titles of all relatives dictate which venue the pup will be suited for.

I am going to buy a horse for racing. the parents have not been to the track in 7 generations but i did see one run in a pasture and he looked fast. there are horses in his pedigree with fast-sounding-names, so he must be worth the money and the time. the mother's owner says this is a winner colt. right?

90 % of the offspring of great champions. be it horses or dogs are not suitable for topsport

I agree Duke that's why I say titles and pedigree are only what you pay for
