 No Jenni,
you are right,
 there is no winning here.
As Cyrus Ching said.
Do not wrestle  with a pig.
You can not win, you both will get dirty, but only the pig likes it.

As a breeder, I'd prefer to have a middle man since my seperation and divorce, someoned to take care of all the things I have no interest in doing,...visits, phone calls, paperwork, shipping arrangements...  I'd want some control of the upper and lower limits of the client's final price, though.  If someone tried to backdoor that arrangement, I'd charge them double for MY inconvenience.

Hi everyone, I think it's safe for me to comment now LOL I appreciate all your advice and all of you have made some very interesting points. I am very inexperienced with the GSD and will continue to do my research before I make my final decision. I hope to get my pup by April. Fingers crossed :) Thanks for all the comments

I have not had time to read all of the posts, so I may be repeating some info....

It costs a LOT more to fly dogs in to the UK than in to the USA, especially considering the miles involved!

I was quoted £1600 to fly a female over from Czech to UK....I CAN FLY MYSELF FOR £100 ! Work that out????

Pup for £2000? Sounds reasonable. I had pups in the UK from imported parents and sold them easily for £1000 each. Actually, I turned down £1500 for one of them as I preferred not to sell him to the person who wanted him!

I would fully endorse Jinopo, having dealt with them in the past.

A final note. If you are worried about the price, you should probably get a rescue.

Brilliant, Danny brilliant!!

Why not do some homework, make some calls, and buy a good dog for a reasonable price?

Geezzz

"Maybe this thread should've been called "Do certain people deserve to make more money than other people? How much? And who decides?"

Just speaking about the cost topic here (not about quality) I think Hans can charge as much as he wants for a dog. It's up to you to decide to pay it. $3000 to some people is different than $3000 to others. What is he doing wrong & why does he have to justify it? I don't care if he's getting the dog for $100 & selling it for $1000, pocketing the $900, that's what he profitted. He should beable to make as much money as possible for himself & his supplier & not feel bad about it.
It's upto the buyer to educate themselves enough to not get ripped off.
If you skirted him & went to the source then good for you, can't hate that.

I was uneducated about dogs, got ripped off for more than $3000 & more importantly alot of waisted time. I'm not mad at the person who scamed me, I was upset at myself for getting scamed. Your either a sheep or a wolf in life, if your a sheep at least try to be a smart sheep ;)
Educate yourself & spend what your comfortable spending.

I read this topic very carefully and wanted to share some facts of my experience with dogs I imported from Jinopo:

1. Jacko Jipo Me: Littermate of Jago Jipo Me. Died of Parvo 2 weeks after I received him from Czech Rep
2. Zasko z Jirkova Dvora: Littermate of stud Zen z Jirkova Dvora. Terrible HD and skin problems (Got replacement from breeder)
3. Catryn Jipo Me: Daughter of Reno Jipo Me. Bad HD. Asked for replacement and breeder did not refused but when I asked about a specific puppy they told me this pup was very good and it was not replacement quality. Still waiting for the right pup to replace Catryn.
4.  Numa Jipo Me: Daughter of Piko Bret Bett. Really bad Skin Problems, demodectic mange and immunological disease.
5. A od Roubenky: Has Panus
6. Niel z Dvorakova Sadu: Son of Atila z Kociciho Dvora. So far is perfect. Now SchH1 and Kkl

So for me, the record is 80% of the dogs I bought from them had a health problem and 33% had HD. As I said, these are only facts of my experience with this breeder.

I was Jinopo´s distributor for Mexico and Latin America but due to all these health problems I decided stop buying from them and they stop promoting my kennel in their webpage. No fight or problem with them just stop business relations. Also I can guarantee you Jiri Novotny is one of the most knowledge men regarding German Shepherds and bloodlines I know.

Regarding Mr. Hans I don´t have the privilege of knowing him and I think that if he wants to charge many thousands of USD for a dog, he is in his right to do it. It is the buyers choice to accept the terms or not.

Finally,I will not buy a pup from Jinopo or any other breeder for 3,000 USD. It is too much! If you know the right people you can find a very good 3 year old German import dog with good bloodlines and training with SchH1 and Kkl for 4,000 USD plus shipping and your chances of getting good health and character are higher than with a pup.

Good luck!
