GSDDrive
Ignore the previous post by JessieJames, it was just a snipe at someone she has an issue with.
I never heard of Hokamix, but have used Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM with some success. I found one of the best of these was a liquid form called Cortaflex. There are others such as Adequan and Cosequin too. Acupuncture can also be helpful as is swimming.

get your facts right
Banana's are very useful - just like metacam, it can be given to a fitting dog (as quoted by GH)

OP doesn't have a fitting dog, she has HD. I've researched HD over the last 20 years, since I had my first GSD with HD, and nowhere have I ever come across the suggestion that bananas are useful for the condition. By your own statements you believe GH to be mentally unbalanced so wy would you pass on this dubious advice from her? Admit it, you just like bringing her name into anything you can. Stop hijacking serious posts just to get your kicks. Try some originality or actually posting something that is useful to somebody.

The stuff is awesome and I give it to my mother's cat as well as the dogs. The cat has nearly gone off of the metacam he's been.

Chicken feet are the richest natural supplement containing glocosomine, chondroitin, MSM and hyluronic acid. Cook it well(!) with pinch of sea salt and feed it with blended raw pineapple or apple or carrots blended with parsley. I get chicken feet in the Chinese supermarket.
Otherwise
natural home cooked meal is the best and not food in bags which is void of life supporting enzymes. It is also surprisingly cheaper if you shop around. Lightly cooked meat of any kind ( liver will give diarrhea so be careful) Chicken with flat bones and cartilages great, with pasta, raw veggies about 2 -3 table spoons as described above, pinch of sea salt.
Keep her on it for 3 -4 months and then observe difference. Let me know if you see nay difference or not. I have great experience with this concoction.
