Wow, AKC show was crazy.  Here are the pictures of my little Yatzee in her first show.  She got second place (highest ribbon in the class).  There was only one blue ribbon in all of the German Shepherd classes and it was to a champion.  All other's (except my two) failed temperament test under that judge.  AKC may not like my European conformation, but they sure as heck can't argue with my temperament :-)
Kind Regards,

Which show, wlpool?

Nan, if a GSD shys away from the judge in an AKC show, they are to be immediately dismissed from the ring. The temperament evaluation takes place before the stand for exam. As far as I know, there is no specifed way to do it. Most judges will have the handler walk the dog to them watching the dog's reaction. Then the judge will stroke the dog's head and and pat it on it's side, things like that. No double handling ever allowed during the temperament test. If the dog tries to bite the judge, that's a more serious offense and the dog will immediatley be disqualified. Getting the dog reinstated is complicated and most dogs that are DQ'd don't get back into the ring again.

So the judge withheld the first place ribbon from your dog?  Did he say why?

She is very pretty.  Are you showing her just for fun? or?

Sinton, Texas show.

The notation that was made on my two dogs (Yatzee and her V13 Sch3 Kkl1 father) was lack of Merit.  All of the others got noted for temperament.
The judge withheld the ribbon, on the male and awarded second to the female (highest place in the division)

Temperament is how Blitzen stated above.

On the first day of the show, my male got second place and yatzee got third in their perspective classed (no real grooming at all, just a bath and handheld blow dryer lol.) under a different judge.

I am showing for fun and would like for her to be a breeding female if she gets all of the titles and passes all of the health requirements that I have in my program.

Thanks!

Which who was the judge?

Beverly Capstick was the replacement judge for the division.  I am unsure why there was a judge change.

The judge you entered under either drew too many dogs or cancelled. The AKC limits the number of total dogs any judge can judge at one show. I think it's 250, but not positive.  Don't know the judge, but I'm going to do a little homework on her. Do you think she was right in excusing so many dogs? Did they shy away from her or was she afraid of the breed? If that happens again and you don't want to show under the new judge,  you can ask for your money back.

How is "merit" judged? Just wondering....?

Congrats Windy, very pretty, thanks for sharing.
