Starting this year and in the future, there will be no stick hits
at the FCI IPO championships.

Schutzhund as we knew it, whittled away for years, is
finally gone.

von Stephanitz turned over in his grave.

Don't hold me to it, but a very unreliable source told me the helper will now have a bubble wand. I don't believe it. I think it will be way to hard to dip the wand into the soapy water to blow bubbles in the dogs face.

Can we blow kisses, and spread glitter?  Wow I not only feel terrifed for the sport, but for the breed as well :(

Even as a newbie, that bothers me. I wish they would have made stick hits OPTIONAL. That way, they would get their way to pass dogs that can't take stick pressure. But, we would have the option of taking stick hits and that would show who is a good sport dog and possibly a good breeding candidate. Obviously, it will be obvious which dogs and handlers opt not to take stick hits and which do. So, that might have been a win-win. But, I don't know the political history......

I have said in past, that in 25 years the GS for all intents and purposes will have gone the way of the collie, another shepherd dog that was destroyed by popularity. The breed will for all intents be a pet breed bereft with health issues. If you can't see the handwriting on the wall, you are either visually impaired or have breed blindness, an ailment similar to kennel blindness. Btw, I have never said anything negative about pet status, other than it is detrimental to a functional working dog of which the GS is supposed to be......but the collie was created to work also and that train left decades ago.

Helpers will use the stick only to threaten the dog but cannot hit the dog with the stick Roll eyes.
