That's really messed up Jantie.I can only imagine your disappointment and heartache.Especially since you purchased from a "top" kennel. How long did you try to reason with them about a replacement or refund? Appreciate the pics and x-ray.

Hi again Mark! Long story short: Indiana was born 07/07/2003. X-rays were taken September 2004, dog aged 14 months. No replies on many (e-mail-) requests for action. Launched a message for help on this board. Out of the blue: German owners of his brother "Ice" called upon me, they were as devastated as me, as he had doublesided HD. Even an unknown (to me!) Spanish breeder (area of Malaga) called me and offered me a pup from the same father. He had purchased Xenos in the meantime. I had no strings with him, thanked him for his generous offer, Malaga is too far away for me. Many months of preparation with my lawyer, many other written requests towards the breeder. Only responses: "YOU HAVE RUINED THE DOG, STARTED TRAINING TOO SOON, FED THE WRONG FOOD!" (The usual stuff, the customer is the idiot who doesn't have the faintiest idea how to treat and raise a GSD. For your info, I have been accompanied by GSD's all my life). They asked for the x-rays which I sent. Were "badly taken", they: "would not pay a cent for this picture" (focussing on the quality of the x-rays, instead of focussing on the real problem = HD.) Suggestion was made to bring the dog to their vet in Germany, a "Noch Zugelassen might be obtainable" there! Can you imagine THIS Greek ruin to receive the quotation: HD-3? Mother of Indiana is Nanda, she has had at least two more litters. Diana seems to have terrible joints, Zuchthündin Ulmi was sold to Spain, to mentioned Spanish breeder, but is diagnosed ED and was sent back to Germany, but only after aggressive debating, calling names (e-mails in my posession) and severe arguments of our Spanish friend (certainly also through the pressure of this courtcase - I talked about this Ulmi in court, only weeks later the matter seemed to be solved! - again impressively proving my statement that serious breeders always replace the pups (or make a refund). I paid for the "Pick of the Litter" (with impeccable notes of money), intended to participate with the choosen dog in SV-Show and SV-Schutzhund, travelled twice to Germany totalling 3.600 kilometers. I wanted a pup to the Standard (no floppy ears, no failing testicle, no missing p-1 or crooked tail, no HD etc.) and made my point very clear at the time of purchase. I was not coming that long a distance to buy a pet for the garden.

The color of the dog should be the LEAST important to you Brittany, AND all pups are cute. You hope and pray that they are physically healthy from the tip of their nose, all the way down to their tail!! AND mentally sound in their head. Dawn
