Dawn G. Bonome

by Dawn G. Bonome on 20 June 2005 - 00:06

The reason that I brought this topic up is.... There are new people out there that have never owned a GSD and see some of these ads, they think that they are getting a good prospect when it is only a pet. My point is if it is Pet Quality, then be upfront about it, do not say BEST PUPPY! If it is showable, to show/working homes. I think that all of us who have posted on this board have at one time or another have gotten the shaft. We all learned lessons and went forward. Once again, Let the buyer beware, and honest breeders, check out the buyers!

Coming from a recent poster, I would like to say, that price is not my main concern for a pup. But what her temperment is, does she have extremely high drives or is she more sutible for a house and work when needed. I am asking about a pup now, because I would like a breeder who is planning breeding now for the next 6 months while they have clients before they breed. After spening 3000.00 on fixing my current dogs face, I'm not going to spend 1500 on a pup at this very moment, I want a better pick, not left overs. I want to know what kind of pup this parent produces, at least in their past breedings. Martha

If your last post is being long-winded Mrs Haggard, don't stop! Wish I could add more to your comments, but you've pretty well said it all! Other than bloodlines etc, I look for a pup that shows a love of life (there's a German word that encapsulates this but it's slipped my mind) and revels in movement for the sheer joy of it. Apart from this, let's face it, no Breeder worth their salt is going to part with a pup they believe to be exceptional or a future winner. Why otherwise be a serious, professional Breeder in the first place?

Hey, I am a good honest Breeder of a Love Hobby and I sell top Quality puppies very reasonalbe at $800; I micro chip, vet them at 6 weeks and work daily with them from the time they are born. I do not use TITLE PARENTS but buy from Germany top stock from va and V rated parents to try and the top lines to use in my program. I want to make good puppies affordable to people to pick and choose to work or play or be companion pets as well with good looks and working ability. I am an older lady of near 67 yrs. old July 29 and I said when I was done with horses i would do my best to perfect this wonderful breed but alone it is useless to even try with some Breeders that do not even try to help out. I offer good Quality Puppies healthy as far as I know from West Germany with good pigment, goot temperment is number one and nice looking. Am I wrong at trying even?? I know the odds are truly against me but I still try to keep going for people that want a nice looking pup that will work in search n rescue which they are, bomb decting, narcotics work, blind, therapy and Obedience to the final title they are doing this. I feel like a looser trying on my own to do this and I buy a pup and need a replacement of better and get worse.?????? Thanks friends and good luck to those looking and buying and BEWARE PLEASE!!!!!!!! Pat

As an observation: has anyone noticed the disparaged number of pupies/dogs available of the male gender? Sunny
