I have a 12 month old Silver Sable Male who is beautiful, at least to me. His structure is wonderful and we are waiting to meet with a handler. My question is what are the views of showing this color of dog? I know it is acceptable but what about favorites in color? Everyone has their own opinion on what they like better, and I know it's not suppose to but does sway people. Do sables have a fair shot? Martha

Some judges like them some don't. Personal preference. If you plan to attend the USA sieger show. I think you're in luck.

Yes, I'm in the US MI to be exact. My husband turned me on to the breed. Before Cheyenne I wasn't a fan of GSD, I had always been around poorly bred dogs with bad personalities. Now, I adore my baby. Great temperment, loves kids, great in public as long as I tell him adults are ok. I couldn't ask for a better dog. My DH was raised in the conformation ring with this type of dog. I always thought he was nuts. But I have learned the errors of my ways.

Hi, I'm new here and I have just been reading different posts. This may be a dumb question but what does a silver sable look like? I know what a red sable and a black sable looks like but I know nothing about a silver sable. Is there an example of a silver sable in the database someone can refer me to?

gimme10mins, I had the same question. I have a problem with defining the sables, so if someone can shed some light via example, it would be great!

Here is a website on Sables, she is a breeder but with good pictures. Follow the link on studs or bitches. Another is http://www.raebark.com/

Cheyedoe, the raebark.com site is truly amazing to me. I have really never, ever seen dogs with ears such as in the litters advertized. So small and foxlike. I am no expert but this is something that just sprung out at me. So unlike any of the lines I have ever seen. Really cute pups. But can someone explain those ears? If you have a dog out of Amlines, you might think of going first to an AKC show and showing your dog to a professional handler for evaluation before showing. Another thought would be to also to contact someone in your area that breeds German lines dogs and present your dog for evaluation, should he be of breed surveyed and trialed parents. Should you still require some help contact me at traindogs@hotmail.com.

wasn't real impressed with that site, but she did have ALOT of dogs and alot of pictures. The silver sable is not as popular as the red sable, or other colors....I thought it was bred out along time ago, but then she aslo has whites and is happy that her dog carries the "white ressesive"

Gosh! Can they really find home for ALL those pups?
