Last August there was an ad placed here on the Pedigree Board the ad stated, "Lord is good for show/SchH/future breeding or as a magnificent family companion." The ad was placed by a reputable kennel, I did research and could find nothing bad about them, This kennel had even had a VA3 stud, up until he died the year before.  I talked to the owner at least 3 or 4 times, we even ran Lord's pedigree against my girl's to see how it looked, I finally decided to purchase him. He was going to be my new schutzhund dog and I couldn't wait to get him! He flew here just fine but as soon as he got out of the crate, I saw a problem, he was missing some hair along side his mouth. On the way home from the airport, I stopped at a vet to have a skin scraping done, sure enough it was demodex mange!

I immediately called the owner, I talked to her and her friend where Lord had stayed part of the time (he went back and forth between the 2 households, according to her). They assured me if the D.M. didn't go away on it's own they would replace the dog, I was to wait until January to make sure it didn't come back. Well the D.M. cleared up and didn't return, so now I'm looking for Lord's paper's (he was imported from Serbia),  the owner wouldn't answer any of my calls or emails. I was able to get a hold of the friend and she said she hadn't heard from her in months also, the friend told me the lady in question had imported 4 dogs but still owed the breeder in Serbia money so he refused to send the papers.

A couple of months ago I sent the owner a demand for the return of my money, as I sure as hell, didn't pay $2000 for a paperless dog, if I wanted a paperless dog I would have headed to the humane society and paid $50 for one! The owner finally send's me an email saying the dog wasn't hers and she sold it for a friend (the same friend I had talked to about the D.M), well the friend will not answer my phone calls now either. When I paid the person who sold me the dog and it was NEVER mentioned that she was selling the dog for a friend. So does anyone have any ideas on how to go about either getting the papers for this dog or getting my money back? Thank you for any help you guys can provide!

B Coats is the breeder that posted the dog on database. Is that who sold you the dog or was it someone else..?

This is so sickening. Publish all the names you have. Doesn't seem like there are any innocent to protect!

My advice to all, visit in person. Don't buy dogs from pretty internet pictures without a personal visit and inspection!

This is a crime. It is called stealing/theft. I would start calling the police in their area. I would report them to the better business bureau. Since this was interstate commerce, see what the feds can do for you.

Don't just assume that nothing will work. Report them to every place you can think of. Try to contact the breeder in Serbia.

Keep sending registered letters!

Good luck,

Michele and Pharaoh

So sorry. It could happen to most of us, myself included. I hope it all works out for you. That's a really good looking dog.

Beware of buying through a broker.

Try talking to the people in Serbia and maybe pay them directly for your dogs papers they more than likely will let you pay much less for sure as they wont be getting anything from the importer it appears  and then take the people to small claims court for the return of the money they owe you or get some sort of judgement. You are not alone in this sometimes it takes several months to get import papers etc which is common  but if they did not pay for the dog from the breeder in Europe your papers are not coming..

Yes, Yellowrose it was B. Coats from vom Eichen Hugel! The so called friend is Gina Valetutti of vom Davinhoff. Everything was agreed to on the phone, she did send me an email saying congratulations on your new puppy purchase with the price and stuff. I was sent an email with a copy of his pedigree. I unfortunatly thought, since it was a big name kennel that everything would be legit. I LOVE this dog, he is everything I wanted in a dog, he's just a wonderful boy, now all I need are his papers! I would try to contact the breeder in Serbia, I was told he does not speak any English and but I have no idea on how to contact him. Here's the really good part, I'm a disabled veteran and it took me almost a year to save the money to buy Lord. I think what they did to me is a crime, I was told they imported 4 dogs, so there must be 3 other people out there looking for there papers too.

Expose these peoples names! once their names are listed up on a popular website like this site... they will instantly contact you back and get you your paper for the dog.

I've dealt with Beth Coats and she was completely honest in my dealings with her. She recently had a bout with cancer.

I'm not picking sides here, but I would like to hear her story of what happened.
