Dear Tom and Julie

I am so very sorry to hear the sad news, I know how much Alfons meant to you both. For such a lovely dog to die so young is such a tragedy. My thoughts are with you.

Deepest sympathies, for your loss, having just lost our family pet after 11 years, I can understand how you are feeling.

A real shame.

A loss to his owners, handlers and to the breed of course.

And a real loss to the UK as the dog was 'hot news' in Germany and Herr Meyer was obviously impressed with him.

Tragic to lose any of the dogs,,,,

Regards

I would see in this page an answer from Ansgar, what happen? Why alfons died??

I have Isabel vom Langenbungert an Astana Alfons daughter, really superb bitch also Toxi vom Langenbungert  daughter

whi is an Erasmus daughter, Isabel is 3-2 Erasmus, is a superbitch, and also great character an temperament, hips A1,

it´s a shame!!!  Alfons was a great dog, very, very brave and also beautiful.

Which problem would he had have?? I am really surprised, he was very young. if it was a genetical disorder, it would be good to know, so I would like to think in my future breeding with my bitch, isn´t it??

maybe the silence about the ccause of death speaks for itself.

if this was merely a fluke or accident, why keep the reason so secret?

I am more than willing to discuss the cause of death for any dog I have owned, I feel other breeders should be just as open about their dogs. What is there to hide, really?  how else will we be able to learn from our mistakes and make the proper breeding choices to improve the health of the breed?  Come on people! what good is that top show rating, or SCH3 title if the dog is dead at a young age?

the general concenses about the gsd breed, whether it be from a vets own mouth, or a breeder of another breed is that the gsd breed is one of the most unhealthiest out there.

Indeed a very shocking news He was a fabulous dog always loved to see him infront of my monitor's window. A tragic loss to our breed......Tom & Julie remember a ''Warrior Never Dies" he will always be with us in our heart & he will live forever in his progenies

Best Regards
