I'm currently on island of Oahu, Hawaii. Does anyone know of a GOOD schutzhund trainer/helper in this state?? By good I mean someone who is well skilled in training police service dogs and Schutzhund dogs. Preferably somone who has the knowledge and skill to compete at a high level in competition, and great understanding of the protection work. This place is literally the Antartica of the schutzhund world!
Any help with firsthand knowledge of a trainer/helper out here would be very much appreciated. THANKS.
Note: Please do not respond with info about the two clubs "Aloha Schutzhund" or "Schutzhund Hawaii". I hate to say things like this, but these two clubs are a complete and total joke. They are very backward, not motivated at all, and can go for weeks without even meeting to train!

Didn't you answer your own question? Why do you say such mean things about people.

by Mystere on 07 May 2008 - 20:05
I agree with Pat.
Not only do you answer your own question, but if you are involved in the sport at all, you already KNOW that there are no persons competing "at a high level in competition" in Hawaii!! Realistically, given the geography of the situation...

I don't know who you are, but NO, I did not answer my own question. I won't do helper work on my own dogs, I'm sure anyone could understand that. Unskilled, overrated, and insufficient helpers are a dime a dozen. I'm not being mean at all, anyone in there right mind would turn around and leave the instant they seen these two clubs train. I'm a super nice guy, but those two groups couldn't even put a Sch 1 on a dog if they wanted to. And it's because they have no desire to become better, it is called un-motivated.
The question was is there any GOOD helpers in Hawaii, and it hasn't been answered yet.

I thought you were relocating to Michigan? My good friend, Higgins, lives on the Island, but he is mainly into Dobes.

That's the way to make friends and influence people. Why are you so interested in a good helper when your dog is in quarantine and is only 9 weeks old at this point. You know nothing about the clubs here. If you did know about us, you'd know we put titles on dogs and train more than 2X a week. You talk some big stuff for someone that has no titles under your belt. To claim your puppy will be a national level competitor is very optimestic and shows your level of experience. Glad you can pick em at that age. Good luck finding someone to help you with your training. To anyone else coming to Hawaii on vacation, you are welcome to come by for a visit to our training sessions on Sunday afternoons. I'm sure you will see a much different picture than the one Duprre tried to portray For the record I've never seen him at any of our trainings, so he speaks from no real knowledge. ALOHA!!!!

I’m with Schutzhund
Through the years we’ve titled many dogs from Bh to SchIII. My personal opinion is in the past 3 years or so we’ve progressed very well and with the dogs that we’ve been bringing in recently it will only get better.
I visit many clubs on the West Coast so I have a very good idea of where we’re at. I would have never known what you posted if I wasn’t training with some close friends in Nor
I’ve never met you and I’m sure you’ve never been to the
I recently attended Aloha Schutzhund’s trial and seminar. They are a relatively new club with a higher membership turnaround then most clubs (due to many military). They also lost one of their helper/trainers, but is hasn’t stopped them from progressing and titling more dogs each trial. They will only get bigger and better!!
You come across as an “internet expert”, where have you trained and have you titled any dogs before in any dog sport? It’s easy to say things when you’re hiding behind a keyboard. When I see people like you make statements about other trainers or clubs in the cyber world like you have I usually take it with a grain of salt, this is an excellent example why.
I suggest you fly over to the
If anyone else comes to the

Well DUPREE, whoever you are (Ithink your first name is Jep?)
Let me set some facts straight. I am the President of the Aloha Schutzhund Club and your assumptions are not only misguided but flat out wrong. I understand you made these allegations on the basis of "Hear Say" and then continue to state that you train and obtain dogs in Texas for the Police...? I must question your professionalism SIR!! I always wonder why people don't identify themselves when they "claim" facts.
You have never been here, nor seen or spoken with anybody from either Shutzhund Hawaii or the Aloha Schutzhund Club, nor do you live in Hawaii. These are facts you personally admitted in writing today????
Our clubs here in Hawaii are progressing at an excellent rate with both having very dedicated and CERTIFIED helpers. The Aloha Schutzhund Club has in it's 4 years of existence produced BH, SchH I, II and III dogs at USA trials. We have certified 7+ helpers during Workshops/Seminars. I don't know where you're from but your assumptions are clearly wrong.
Another fact: I myself was born and raised in europe and brought up in the KNPV environment, still now, visit my home annually and work with some of the best in the sport. I spend time with LE K9 units here in Hawaii to expose the new developments in KNPV for the benefit of my K9 friends, as we are somewhat isolated. Since I became President, this club has more then doubled in membership, obtained very good training facilities, titled many dogs, certified helpers and have not been short of sponsorship to hold our annual trials. We have a good relationship with the Schutzhund Hawaii Club and both clubs are proud of their achievements despite our geographic isolation. Like Richard from our Big Island club, I train and attend workshops (as do others in our club) on the mainland and indeed internationally.
I don't see the need to be critical of those I don't even know and don't have to proof anything. My knowledge and experience is for me to share and use. I would suggest to get your facts next time before you make any claims publicly, and check out your sources. If you ever come to Hawaii you'll see our "mana" and I hope you enjoy our hospitality.
Good luck with your dogs. BTW, do you participate in any working dog sport?

Also, no one wants to work with someone who talks bad about people. We have seen this at our club. The guy or girl comes in all nice. A few weeks or months later when something bad happens, it is the TD's fault. Then the club sucks and there are official complaints to DVG Board. There are emails where everyone is ccd and accusations. No one wants to deal with someone who talks bad about someone. Its commen scents.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD START WITH PUPPY CLASS OR EVEN GET YOUR FIRST TITTLE BEFORE THINKING ABOUT NATIONALS. JSUT A THOUGHT.
