I have a bitch who is pregnant with her first litter. She was bred March 25, 26, and 27, so is about a month along. Today, I noticed she has some clear to whitish discharge coming from her vulva. What could this be? Is this normal? I've never had another bitch do this, unless they kept themselves very clean and I didn't know it. Should I take her to the vet? I took her temperature and it is normal. She does have slight kennel cough, as a couple of my dogs have had it, but it seems to be only mildly affecting her. She very seldom coughs, has a good appetite, and no fever. No nasal discharge either. I am very worried...any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you're that worried about your pregnant bitch then you would have already taken her to the vet already and not wait for a reponse over the the net.

Clear discharge is normal actually a sign that your female is bred.

Thank you for the reassurance! I was hoping everything was okay and thought I remembered others saying that some discharge is normal, to only be worried by green or foul smelling discharge. I greatly appreciate your  help!

Brittany: First of all, I am at work and cannot take her to the vet right away, so was hoping to get some feedback before leaving everyone here in a jam if I left for an emergency. If my girl had seemed critical, I absolutely would have rushed her to the vet, no questions asked. Also, other respected members of this board have told me on previous posts to always ask for opions, as vets are not the "authorities" on everything to do with GSDs, so I did exactly that. Aren't we supposed to be able to post on this site and get answers to questions and advice, not criticism and scarcasm??

rockinkranch- apparently Brit-Brit here is allowed to make ignorant, accusatory and borderline slanderous comments all the name of "learning" but no one else can ask anything without getting trolled by her. Don't worry, none of us here listen to her, you shouldn't either. Best of luck to you and your female.
