Sorry guys. I was out training and could not respond. I am starting on the IPO's now. Almost glad I missed this ADDITIONAL smoke and mirrors B.S. from the two of you. Gustav after 30 years I would of hoped you would of got it right. Stallworth I have hope for you as you have not been around that long. No seasoned competant handler would look at these breedings and buy their next shot at the world team. You have some great dogs so JUST DO IT. Bob

Realcold, Peace!!!!(smile) ps Did tracking this morning with the young boy that I will title because he deserves it, and did protection training this afternoon with my breeding bitch. (young boy has pano so I gave him break on bitework)...Just an aside so you could still feel warm and fuzzy about me.(smile).

Hey bob, I appreciate your compliments to our titled dogs, and to Illo von der Abfuhr in particular. Your right, he is a great dog. The girls are great to, and some will definately have the opprotunity to demenstrate thier sport capabilities on the trial field. The others we're always happy to show them work in person. I respect your firm opinion, we don't need to see eye to eye. I just got in from some night training, and will be back at it with the dogs in the AM. We do have plans for some trials this season so perhaps we'll have the pleasure to cross paths in person some day. Good luck with your dogs, the upcoming trial season, and I thank you for the great debate. I think for now we'll just have to be satisfied if we can agree to disagree :-) Take care and best regards.

I had to jump in on this one. I have seen many crap titles put on dogs so the title is only as good as the dog/handler and judge. Its obvious Realcold is die hard schutzhund, that is great, me too. But... if you go with this mentality then you wouldn't use a titled non koered police dog? If you know your dogs and the genetics then that is more then alot of these so called "breeders" that buy a half assed titled dog from europe and are instant experts. I love schutzhund, but for sure the breed is so varied and different types of dogs excel at different working venues. But most would agree a good balanced dog can excel in just about everything, what a GSD should be. For example I have seen a couple of dogs from Carmspack, not what I would call high sport dogs but the dogs definately showed a good tempermant with good hunt drives.... i believe this is something she breeds for. If I was looking for a detection prospect i would consider looking at this kennel. Point is like Stalworth said, everyone breeds for different venues. I have bought a few pups from untitled bitches who were of high quality who could do any work including high sport and have bought from titled bitches that were crap so... genetics are genetics. If schutzhund is your cup of tea, and are breeding for high sport dogs then yes get them titled and surveyed. But if someone has a good quality detection certified bitch and are breeding for this type of work, then how can one take a shot at that?? For sure if people think that the Germans are so by the book they are crazy. I'm sure alot of the big breeders have done some "test" litters in the past or "accidental" ones before a bitch was titled. We would be ignorant to think otherwise, or actually many north americans are, thats why they sell us the good ones! I'm done my rant lol. If you want to poo poo someone, poo poo the american show line breeders.

O'kay Crocop here goes. As you stated different qualities are required for the working venues. I do like and promote real sport dogs that I can still live with in a home enviorment. These dogs come from great thought and consideration in the breedings. That said, if I was going to breed or buy for SAR or PP a different set of genetics would have to be carefully sought out. My problem if I have one is that novices can get caught up with the B.S. that they are getting this 8 week old super dog that can do it all at the world level. In my younger days I also thought I could find a woman that could walk down the runway looking like a million bucks and the next day carry the canoe and pack over the mountain for me. Age should bring some clarity and realism to us. BTW still looking and dreaming of the ..........perfect dog. --Bob

Realcold... Totally agree with that. There is no room for mis-informing breeders period. Whether it be from the showline breeder who sells pups to people claiming they are for working or me selling one of my dogs and telling someone they will do well in the show ring. Bad example but for sure you can see the point. I agree its up to the buyer to be educated but its up to a good honest breeder to tell the truth. Easier said then done I suppose. I remember talking to someone who said they sell their dogs to the police. Being a housepet for a police officer doesn't mean you sell dogs for police LOL. But of course you tell this bullcrap to some newbie and they will believe it. Whats worse is they tell the other uneducated public, before you know it you have people thinking these crap dogs are what a GSD should be! That is what sickens me
