but oddly enough you manage to refrain from responding on those posts - since you can't sustain real debate)

No, ML, that's not at all what it means. It means I'm tired of the insults, and just don't want to engage you, when I know there is ZERO chance I will ever change your mind about anything you believe.

Trump is not the fine person you think he is. He is a liar. When going through bankruptcy, his lawyers met with him in pairs because his memory was so selective. And nothing has changed since then.

He is an adulterer, and a womanizer (Access Hollywood tape.)

In his book, Think Big, he calls Christians 'chumps' and 'schmucks'.

He cannot quote a favourite Bible verse, and says he does not believe he needs to ask for forgiveness when taking Communion. As an Anglican, I believe this is one of the worst things a Christian can do. There is no salvation without repentance and forgiveness https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-on-god-i-dont-like-to-have-to-ask-for-forgiveness-2016-1

When campaigning in 2016, on numerous occasions, he encouraged his followers to use violence agains hecklers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIs2L2nUL-0&feature=emb_logo&ab_channel=MashableDeals

When Obama (campaigning on behalf of Hilary) was confronted with a hecker during a rally, and the crowd started to shout him down, he asked them to be quiet, and gave the man a chance to be heard. Turned out he was a veteran, and Obama offered to speak with him after the rally was over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kuwK_cquV8&ab_channel=WallStreetJournal

I could go on, but I know it's not going to change your opinion.

What happened the Sunday after the election should tell you who the REAL Christian is. Biden went to church. Trump, of course, went golfing...

There, some nice, civil debate, without a single personal insult. Everything I've said can be backed up by facts.

Sunsilver,

I started this thread. The thread is titled "after the election".

It was not intended to debate the candidates or the election. It was intended to discuss what is going on after the election.

If you wish to debate the Bible, quotes, bankruptcy, womanizing, your religion, Obama etc. feel free to start your own thread.

Now if my response in any way offends you, please let me know how I can avoid that in the future.

Thanks, I'll pass on that Mountain Lion. The reason I posted what I did, is of course, because Grima said he began posting in this thread because were were criticizing Trump, and he found that very upsetting. The two of you have spent the last couple of pages singing Trump's praises. Sorry that you find this irrelevant to the original topic of the thread. But of course, that means your posts were irrelevant too.

I think you will agree the way Trump encouraged violence during the 2016 campaign IS pretty relevant to what happened at the Capitol last week.

I just went back to the start of the thread to refresh my memory about the earlier discussion. Gee, I made a pretty good prediction back then!

I sincerely hope neither side will start any violence. Trump has hinted he will not concede power willingly if he loses, and most of us liberals are worried about what THAT might cause his followers to do. https://www.forbes.com/sites/tommybeer/2020/09/24/heres-everything-trump-has-said-about-refusing-to-give-up-power/?sh=6e2da062e436

Well I just read on one site several posters saying the head of the National guard forces in Washington DC said something about switching to Military Power tomorrow. Whatever that is supposed to mean.

Another site claimed Martial Law was going to be put into effect tomorrow.

I have no idea personally what is happening tomorrow. I'm just passing on what I read.

So by tomorrow night maybe things will have settled down.

As far as Gima, and I have no idea whether Gima is a he or a she. Apparently Gima is also a Trump supporter, so I can see where Gima would get involved on this thread. Just like you would be offended if we attacked Trudeau.

I think we should all relax and see what tomorrow brings.

If someone called Trudeau to task for something he did that they didn't agree with - no I would NOT be offended. They have a right to their opinion.

However, if I felt what they said about him was WRONG, I would do my best to present the truth, backing it up with relevant facts, as I've tried to do here.

If someone started to call him nasty names, e.g. Trudope, and give no reason for why they were criticizing him, yeah, I'd come to his defense.

NO politician is perfect. But neither are they the devil incarnate, as some have tried to portray Biden:

Literally... I saw a meme on FB the other day, showing Biden with Satan behind him, and Trump with Jesus.

As much as I don't care for Trump, I would have been just as upset if the pictures had been reversed!

The last few posts are how it should be done. ML you may have started this thread but you do not get to decide what or who posts to it.....I however do!!

*******GIMA since you have not replied to me in a PM I will ask you here once again to acknowledge you have read my PM's to you, thanks.*******

ML said " I think we should all relax and see what tomorrow brings." that's the best post in this whole thread!!!!!!

As far as I know, every human on this planet has their good and bad sides. No one is all good or all bad, the problem is when we fail to see and acknowledge either side and paint that person either an angel or the devil.
I have never understood blind obedience to anything or anyone, never mind going and doing things that will jeopardize the rest of my life, my freedom, my family's life and so on, regardless of who it is.

Before anyone jumps in and tells me that I dont know what loyalty is, trust me, I actually do and I do have an open mind, just not so open that my brains fall out.
Many years a go, someone said something to me that made me completely and utterly pause and take inventory of my thinking.
It was not anything ground breaking, but, if its understood past the intellectual level, at a visceral level, it can change the way you think. What he said to me was, "You dont see things as THEY are, you see them as YOU are.
We all see things filtered through our own genetic and environmental filters, that does not make them right, it just makes them fit our perceptions, yet, reality is still reality and its not open to interpretation, not by you, me or anyone, it simply is.

There has been talk of religion here, I am not religious, I do not live by a certain book or any commandments, but, I am intelligent enough to understand that I do NOT want to deal with the consequences of any negative actions I take because Karma does not have a menu, you get served what you deserve.

Excellent post Hired Dog as usual, if only the majority of our members were like you this would be much better place to come and chat.
