Hola.

Translation of above post, don't think this should be titled "beware" as breeder in my opinion can't be held responsible for a dog having an extra vertebra!!! I could be wrong but don't think this is hereditry, I will be removing the beware from title.

"Hello. In 2022 I bought a puppy from Radek Kahula "Z Lounskeho Chovu" in the Czech Republic, from litter Indez vom Münzspiel X Kessy Z Udoli Upy. She is a very good dog but I have taken x-rays this year and she has one more vertebra in her spine, I sent the x-ray to Radek and he never answered me, he blocked me on Facebook ..... Be careful with this man."

YES, it is hereditary, three veterinarians have told me and "davisgsds" also put it in the previous message that I posted a few days ago with the X-ray. I have had bad luck, but the worst thing is that the breeder Radek is not responsible and does not answer my messages, so I think you should be CAREFUL

Read this and it says there is no way of knowing unless DNA tested for condition,so still think the breeder can't be to blame and not have a BEWARE on the thread. Yes he should respond to you to discuss your worries.

Since this condition is believed to be genetic and inherited, there is no way to prevent it without the known cause for its onset. The only thing you can do is test your dog's DNA to determine if he's predisposed to this condition and then consult with a vet about the future.

mrdarcy it is known condition in several lines(not only GSD) in netherlands several KNPV breeders/trainers xray their pups for this at 7 or 8 weeks old, because they dont want to put all the work and training into a pup the police will reject anyway, but it is known that particular dogs produce this,, but even tough you can not blame a breeder for producing such pup, you can judge a breeder by the way they handle such case

Thanks duke, I really did not know this until I looked it up. Had a male many many years ago with this but it never affected anything the dog did.

I agree and said so that the breeder should have responded to the buyer of the pup.

dont think it is a problem if the spine is clean and just has one more, however if you choose to breed with it you will produce more, recently one german male produced quite a bit of spinalproblems, and everybody keeps quiet and keep breeding him and offspring, keep the problems going

My male was never bred from. Keeping quiet about any hereditary condition is just wrong
