Hi, just curious as I ve seen ads for DDR dogs and  wandered what the difference is between them and our German bred dogs?  My friends dog  was born in the u.k. out of German imported dogs, and his pedigree has the german style pedigree, and virtually all of the five generations of dogs all are V rated and have ScH 1,2 OR 3, which presumably means that the dogs can work, but they are also show dogs, for example Rikkor von Bad Boll and Ulk von Arlett are on the pedigree, so what is the difference between them if both types can work, and can DDR dogs be shown? Would like to find out a bit more! Lissa

Hope the link helps.   http://www.ddrlegends.com/nobleheritage.html

In order for the dog's to have a koer rating or breed survey they have to be shown, so yes, the DDR GSD can be shown.

<>Lissa DDr dog were never show dogs and they were not even sport dogs (sch)They still are not if you see any in sport or show they do poorly. If some one wants a show or sch dog ddr should be the last choice

what would a DDR dog be first choice for?

by DDR_SDG on 07 June 2007 - 22:06

In East Germany (GDR) They were bred and used for police/ military protection. There was no sport. The original ddr trails were much different then any sport trail. People do title them in sport but the scrores are almost never that good. They just do not have the drives it takes  to compete at a high level

How many dogs  do you think there are. The %  of  dogs with high scores is so minimal. At best there were a good amount of ddr dogs the scored high in tracking only ob was very low. All my dogs are ddr but the truth is the truth. They are not great sport dog period. Sorry i don't know how long you have ddr dogs but people who had the from the begining know this nerve was always a problem. So links to what ever will not help.
