Prager

by Prager on 30 April 2016 - 10:04

Sure Joan I post long unedited video of training in progress and not eddied one thus it is not perfect. The dogs before they are put on the suit are proofed on the suit . That means that during initial training they see no equipment what so ever and especially suit and are totally trained in civil way from day one Then they are send on unfamiliar decoy in unfamiliar location to see if the dog will bite. If it does then the dog is on the way being civil since she engaged person in suit even though she have never seen suit before. Unfortunately most trainers these days actually teach the dog to bite the suit on purpose instead of the person. That IMO is a is wrong default for protection dog . No offense but that is what I see on joan's video where the dog is doing quite well but is encouraged focusing on equipment. Unfortunately IMO that is what majority of trainers do these days. That leads then to equipment oriented dogs which then need  to be retrained not to be so if they really need to protect.

I would like to people who want tho train civil dogs to make sure that the dog is not fixated on the equipment as they can see on next video. I know that trolls will have hay day but sensible people will see my point in this imperfect unedited videos. Pay attention that I teach the dog not to focus on suit.

Here is video of pup which is intended for civil protection training being taught as a little pup to do civil agitation on bare skin. :

This dog - her name is Chi Chi proofed on body suite at 7.5 months that she is civil. Here she is in training mainly in defense drive ( prey comes later. LOL  I know some think that I am doing it backwards the fact is that I want the dog to protect and not to hunt the bad guys. But that is a different story.  )  Take a note that she is not fixated on the suit and after little while after the suit is slipped off   the dog redirects on a decoy and pays no attention to equipment any more.

I suggest that this needs to be part of any PP/LE training. At this video the dog is about 11 mo. IMO To wait with dog like this to 18 months as some here suggest you are totally missing boat on building defaults. Again this is not show off edited video. but video of training in progress with all the fk ups and mistakes.

Haha. Not focusing on the equipment? Sure. You dog's looking for the/ equipment.
At least my dog, who never jumped into the back of a truck before that session, bit the decoy in his inner thigh, pushing into the biteinstead of focusing for a sleeve. My dog never was trained in any firework, that was a test on a decoy in a suit to protect the decoy. Second time the dog ever did any bitework, the first time was a test on a backtie a year earlier.
The pup your holding has nice prey drive but needs to be calmed down with sleeve in her mouth, otherwiseshe'll knock your tteeth out when you go to give the sleeve back to the helper.
Thanks for posting your handler work with a cute sporty dog. Nice job.

So if the dog is civil proofed on the suit as you claim and/or this is proofing why is your dog carrying the suit around while you are encourage it to do so?

Prager first vid.

So sensible people are those that agree with you trolls are those that don't. Geez yr an arrogant rude person.

FYI nice dog but that was the most playfull game of tug with a suit with a dog amped in pure prey drive you will ever see.

Nothing wrong with that it is just exactly what you have been slagging on for endless posts and the opposite of what you think it is.

Crazy.

Nice dog BTW, would have cut and run tho on that obstacle if not leashed.

Can you point me to a place where I was against prey. Prey is a undivisible part of training of a dog. I would never say such nonsense as being against prey drive. FYI I am against training protection dogs and LE dogs  solely in prey. :)

I'm not going to get into a 'my dog is better than yr dog' with you hans, because I know what my dogs are and they are my dogs.
So, to answer you as to why my dog is carrying the jacket, because in his dog mind he won it, he spit it out instead of 'carrying it around' killing the sleeve like your dog does in the video i watched. He is not trained to out off a decoy so when the decoy got the dogto transfer his bite to the arm, he slipped the jacket so that I could feel my dog in to me in order to prevent thedecoyfrom being inhered. The dog actually fell off the tailgate because he was unfamiliar with carrying the jacket and he missed the edge of the gate. The praise I was giving my dog was to communicate with him that he was doing what I wanted during the engagement with the decoy. Yes, this was a test of the dog. He passed the test.
The request by the way, was for a video ofa dog in defense. You got any of those?

.Prager, surely you jest. Every other sentence you make is ends in prey monkey and how its an abomination and cancer in the breed.

My not God man you really are ........

Anyhoo because you apparently have never seen raw genetic defence in a genuinely untrained, unconditioned dog, it looks something like this;
