I'll critique your yard and view and say it's awful and you should trade me right away. I have nothing bad to say about the dog.

The outline of the dogs body looks rectangular

Your dog would look a lot better if it lost a few pounds and got its muscles toned up. The only 2 bad flaws I see with him are his pasterns are sagging, and his croup actually has a dip in it instead of being rounded. This also makes his croup look a bit steep Getting some weight off his pasterns would stop them from sagging, and muscling up his croup would get rid of the dip, and make it look less steep!

Other than that, I think he's a nice looking showline male! Richly pigmented, nice head, masculine expression, not a heavy mastiff-type head with too much stop, as I am seeing with many of the showline males these days. His angulation is just right for my tastes... not too much, not too lilttle.

What are his bloodlines? I can't find a pedigree for him on the database.

Mithuna, is there something wrong with a rectangular outline? The GSD is SUPPOSED to be longer than it is tall!  Oh, wait, he's supposed to have a pronounced curve in his topline to make his outline appear teardrop-shaped...is that it?  Something wrong with a back that's not humped like a camel? Wink Smile

Important dimensional ratios

The height at the withers amounts to 60 cm to 65 cm for male dogs and 55 cm to 60 cm for female dogs. The trunk length exceeds the dimension at the height at the withers by about 10 – 17 %.

Body – The upper line runs from the base of the neck via the high, long withers and via the straight back towards the slightly sloping croup, without visible interruption. The back is moderately long, firm, strong and well-muscled. The loin is broad, short, strongly developed and well-muscled. The croup should be long and slightly sloping (approx 23° to the horizontal) and the upper line should merge into the base of the tail without interruption.

From the FCI breed standard.

Thanks for all the responses. Well the yard is not that beautiful, the sky is full of ashes and dust

. I only got him recently, he has already lost A LOT of weight. Totally agree he needs to muscle up. Tthe croup is actually fur, I understand it`s impossible to see in these pics. Pigment could be better in my own opinion but I`m just spoiled with very dark males..

Unfortunately the Dam is not in any database, sire is Don vom Volkersberg http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=401415-don-vom-volkersberg

I must add that he is South African bred. His character is outstanding, very good with kids, cats, parrots, dogs etc...

His  drives are like an ON/OFF switch the handler can flip.

I thought the view was beautiful...much nicer than my own yard, for sure.

I am no expert on showlines, but I crossed one of my working line females on a male who was linebred on Jeck Noricum and had other similar lines to your boy. My experience was the same with temperament. I was very happy. Nice boy you have there.

I also thought yard was beautiful. What country are you in? Unless it has four hooves, I'm no good judge at conformation :-)
Looks like a healthy boy. I love his head and eyes. I hope you enjoy him!

I`m i Namibia, Southern Africa. I`ll definetly update when he`s muscled up and excess skin has tightened. Thanks a lot for the critique (especially concerning my yard)
