Icelandic SheepdogLe Chien D'Islande (c. 1770)The 1758 story regarding this Iceland dog is that it was sent from Iceland from the Count of Rantzar, viceroy of the Kingdom, to M. de Maupertius, who had it drawn by M. Fritck, dessinateur of the academy of Berlin. We only know that the dog was 1 ft. 7 inches in length, and 1 ft 2 in. height. Source: 1912 Country Life ....8.2 years ago

LeonbergerMoulon (~1880) [Herr Friedrich's]In all important continental shows they carried off great honors until a 1876 exclusion claimed them to be an unworthy mixture of Saint Bernard, Newfoundland and Pyrenean Dog. Leonburg was then regarded as a gigantic mongrel brought into existence on account of a long felt rage for big dogs. Source: The Illustrated Book of the Dog by Vero Shaw 1881 ....8.3 years ago
Not able to say what part of China she comes from. she is 16 inches high and weighs 32 pounds. Her coat is short, thick, sandy red and very soft. She has a black tongue, flesh colored nose and the inside of her ears is hairless and perfectly smooth. When she was given to me, I had doubts she was of a true breed but have been told by a gentleman from China she is. This opinion was endorsed by Mr Lort at the last Crystal Palace show in 1880, the only time she was exhibited, where she won an extra silver medal. The Dingo, called Warragal by Australian natives is a wild dog. It usually stands at about 22 inches and is a strong, active dog with powerful jaws, being wide between the ears like a wolf. The color is almost always a red brown and darker on the top. It is said true Dingos don't bark, but make different sounds instead. Mr Walter K Taunton's Dingo Lupus's chief fault is the overly high carriage of his tail. Source: The Illustrated Book of the Dog by Vero Shaw 1881 ....8.3 years ago

German Shepherd DogCH (AKC) Flock von Bern PHFirst Field Trial at Arcola New Jersey October 19th 1922 Comments: Dr. C. Roesebeck Obedience Exercise Generally Good and well guided, but not firm in number 4. Did not retrieve right away and encircled the guide first when giving up. In number 10 he did not await his command to leave the ground. Detective Work Searched on leach, taking trail well and following with nose to ground, went in the water after repeated commands, swimming to the other side while retrieving the correct object. Protective Exercises Scouts well in a given direction, trails with his nose close to the ground, but remains too close to his guide and barks continuously in scouting. He gave a howl as he found criminal and nipped him twice while he stood quietly. Nipped lightly in transporting, but otherwise performed well. ....8.3 years ago
