because all the people are 'depraved' from the outset, can you explain what you reckon god is  acheiving  by encouraging, rather than DIScouraging, those depravities? ~~ God does not see through the lens of human eyes. We see the exterior; temporal; the here and now ,, God is not swayed by emotion or an innocent face! Lol  He deals with His creation on an eternal level / spiritual level according to His good pleasure and will,,,

For example, in telling people they should rape and murder ? ~~ please give me the scripture reference where God commands His people to rape? Please the verse is all that's necessary don't paste a page long commentary please.

And ... what do we humans get out of being told by god to do such things ?  Apart from being made 'worse' than we would be anyway ?~~ God is under no obligation to appeal to our fragile human sensibilities. Sometimes killing is necessary. It's violent and it is the result of sin. The fall of Adam and Eve was great and not to be taken lightly. Hence original sin and the reason we all must look to Christ in the New Testiment,,,,Furthermore, we are never "made worse". We are all born with the same depth of depravity as the next,,,By Gods mercy most never rise to the level of Serial killers, pedophiles, etc,,,,** yeah I said that :))

This would seem to fly in the face of Shtal's insistence that it is god who dictates morality to humans.  Unless he really is arguing that it is fine to act in an immoral way,  [ i.e. the opposite of good and god-fearing behaviour, according to many teachings of both Testaments,] as people reportedly were so ordered by god at other times. ~~ again there is a time to murder and God doesn't murder for sh** and giggles,,,God occasionally deals with people according to what their sins deserve. Most often He bears with us all most mercifully and patiently.  Yes, even children as original sin has made them equally as guilty.

ruger your welcome to your delusion all to yourself, keep praying for that free mansion in the sky, won't be long now, fall i believe, FALL how appropriate for the end of the world. will god let you excercise your free will and pick the color scheme of your big free mansion in the sky, will you get free make-overs for eternity, get to choose your neighbours?

these people also believed in your god, and died to meet him.
