Blood spots and fatty deposit in urine of bitch by crazydog on 12 August 2012 - 05:13 |
| I noticed this problem last year, there were few maybe 1 or 2 blood spots in her urine along with a small piece of fatty substance like thing which fell out of her vulva (only once i saw this). I did not see it for a year but suddenly she had the same issue today. She was mated about 19 days ago. Does anybody know what this is. My vet is totally confused. |

| Its likely not from urine, but from the vagina/uterus. There is no urinary condition which will give rise to visible fatty pieces in urine per se. |

| OP did say it came out of her vulva. Could be normal pregnancy discharge. |

just to be safe, take her to the vet, get cbc and also urinalisys........ make sure there isnt an infection of any kind going on. |

| You may want to also do a vaginal culture (its sterile so it wont affect breeding) to make sure the female isnt possibly having a pyometra (uterine infection). If you dont want to do that... you could run a cbc to see if there is any systemic infection (but if its a closed/contained pyo it wont help). |

| Thanks guys, she had it 12 months ago and I had not seen it until today, she was mated 2.5 weeks ago. I did some reading, sadly it did not apply to dogs but I think its possible - polylps. Very contravasy topic. Would it effect pregnancy - sure hope not, she is 3 years old and had only 1 litter so far. |

| This is a mucus discharge... |
by SitasMom on 12 August 2012 - 21:55 |
to me it looks like a urinary tract infection........ |

| I didn't realize she was bleeding now; I thought that was just last year and now you were only seeing mucous. I don't like bleeding a few weeks after a heat; I would take her to the vet and have a culture or ultrasound done. |

| That's quite a glob of blood for a UTI! |

| Last time she had this she wasnt bred. trying to collect the urine, strangely she has done nothing yet today than poop, lol, never does what i want her to do. So a urine culture would be done today and then I will take her to the vet. |

| Not peeing at all? Not good! Take her to the vet sooner rather than later. |

| I mean she pee's. She was just been difficult for the moment. I did collect the urine and had already give to the lab for a culture. It was cloudy and had some sediment. No blood spot this time. Should get the report in 3 days time. Any advise inbetween would be helpful. |

| Hey, thanks, this explains alot. Do u think she conceived? I did mate her 2 & half weeks ago. |
by SitasMom on 13 August 2012 - 17:13 |
maybe she will conceive......if the infection isnt too bad. next time, have a cbc blood panel, vaginal swab and brucellosis test on the first day of her heat cycle. this will tell you if she has a raised white count, if all her organs are working correctly and more.... also keep a close watch on her potty habits, her exercise habits, eating habits, mood and personality..... learn them like the back of your hand..... if anything changes look for reasons......... our dogs are stoic....they hide their pains to us...... without testing we semdom know how their doing, and by the time we do know its usually an "issue". |

| If it were my female I would already have her at the clinic. That does not look good. Is she spending a lot of time back there like it's bothing her? |

| Thanks Sitasmom, yr advise cannot be priced. You can kick my vets butt anytime. We are off to the vet in few hours. Potty habits more or less the same but likes to do it in the kitchen now, she had gained some weight, temperement had change from the sweet loving nature to a littly bitchy. Eats normal. Her urine culture report is due on Friday, cant wait for so lone. Collecting new sample and heading off the vet. Tks |
