Title vs V Rating

I notice there are female gsd with a V rating, but no sch title.
A couple of questions:
1. which is more important, a schutzhund title or a V-rating
2. how does a dog aquire a V rating at a show if it is not titled?
My own opinion is that a schuthund title is more important to me.
thank you

In order to compete in working class and get a V-rating, you need a title.

Apparantly you can also obtain a 'V' in show,
without any working titles from this organization laugh

The ratings are awared as follows:

I'm still a little perplexed how a dog doesn't have
to leave American soil to become an
'International Champion'

If it's a V rating from SV, UScA or WDA, the dog has a title and also KKL.

Rik, KKL is not required if dog is younger than 3 1/2 years old.

The judges are from other countries

if the club that's holding the show/trial has invited clubs from other countires and some of these dogs attend the show/trial than its considered international competition.

the venue must be one that recognises international titles...

So when we achieve our titles, koers and
show ratings, if they are from German etc
judges, should we all start to claim the
'International' status too?

SV doesn't acknowledge international titles. The organization holding the show/trial must offer international titles.

You "cannot" receive a V rating without a working title (in any offical venue).  The highest rating awarded in the senior young dog classes is SG as is the highest rating in the adult non titled class.  The highest rating any dog can receive if it is over 3.5years old and not breed surveyed is SG...To get a V (if your dog is over 3.5years old) (assuming your dog is a V) you must first get a show rating (highest will be SG, assuming you have your working title) then you do your breed survey and then you show again!!! Trust me, been there...

Can a dog under the age of 3.5 get a V without a KKL? They just get an SG and then after the KKL get a V, if they deserve it, correct?

Actually misread that, a dog under 3.5 years that has not been breed surveyed "can" get a V...Turn 3.5 years, then at least 2 shows, one pre survey, one post...

What is the point of the 3.5 year of age rule? Just curious. Seems like it would be better to require all dogs to get their KKL before being allowed to show for a V?
