Bored today, nothing better to do then speculate a future litter. Looking to get solid blacks, can anyone tell me if this would be likely or even possible from this pairing? I'm adding links to mating outcome for both parents so you can see full pedigree on both sides.

Male is from Max/Xorry, he is a red sable.

Female is from Enigma/Vigor, she is solid black.

Black is recessive, and there's no evidence the sire is carrying for black, so all pups will be sable.

There is a dominant black gene, but it is quite rare, and if you trace the pedigree back you can see the dogs on the dam's side are carrying the recessive form of the black gene.

More detailed explanation: mom must be homozygous for black, otherwise she wouldn't be black. So she can only contribute a black gene to the pups.

Dad is most likely homozygous for sable as there are no black dogs on his side of the pedigree, so he can only contribute a sable colour gene, which will dominate mom's black gene. Pups will all be heterozygous sable/black.

Along the same line of question...black sable Male x red sable female...what should I expect?
