Gigante, it isn't rocket science, is all. Pretty common for observant types with a modicum of animal behavior understanding. I have had some wicked smart canines, too, but I won't bore everyone here with their own amazingness with learning things on their own, that I never intended to teach them.

Wait, just this one, we had to start spelling the word "B.E.D" if it was nighttime, because if we said that word in conversation, and we didn't actually go to upstairs to sleep, the dog would work himself into an upset, that we weren't following the prescribed program and actually be going to sleep.

Good to see you ladies all have refueled your brooms. No its not rocket science and yet most meaning the majority, dont use it. Those that do by the time they reach formal training the dogs are miles ahead of the others. Another decent thread ruined by a few angry women. Geez you guys

Of course I do I was porched trained as young buck. Ma used both brain cells and modicums to taught me.

Gigante, I certainly didn't say anything in anger. The idea was asked to be challenged, and it was, because it is a stupid idea: "Porch training" for a PP dog under the topic, "Defense". Pshaw.

Some poor newbie is going to think they are lacking in something vital in themselves because the simple concept of rewarding an innate, desired behaviour is being touted in use, only by the most elite of verbose dog trainers, because they call it "setting the default". Like these newbs won't ever be skilled, or observant enough to be able to grasp this "million dollar" concept. It is a Pet person's go-to skill, is what I am saying.

By all means, write a book on the subject. I am hardly going to stop you. Wouldn't think of trying! I just won't be buying the book.
