Hi Folks,

I found out today that a litter I am on the wait list(3rd for males) only produced 2 males. I understand this is the way things go. The breeder who I am super enthusiastic about has offered to put me on the top of the list for her next planned litter(  the next match Im not as excited about as the pup from the litter I was hoping for). I had my heart set on this planned litter and had been on the waiting list for many months . I wasn't on any other breeder wait lists so now I'm trying to decide my next steps. I was really hoping to get a pup in the summer( I work at a school and have summers off and this would be a great way to devote alot of time to the pup and get him off to a great start. Im only interested in wgsl and I am looking for a dog who has sound , social even temperament. With a possible SAR, tracking, therapy, IPO work. Should I go with the next litter? Ready to depart end of July or wait out until next spring/summer? Does anyone have breeders that they would recommend in the Northwest California, Oregon, Washington area? My beloved 11 year old gsd passed almost a year ago and I am now ready to get another dog and not sure I can wait another year. One more thing the breeder I was waiting for a pup from is a small breeder who has an impeccable reputation and no one has ever said a bad word about her in 20 plus years of breeding. I'm pretty sure Im going to go with the next litter due to depart at the end of July I just wanted to hear your thoughts....maybe this is just the way things were meant to be.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Just across the border from WA, in Aldergrove, BC is Bullinger Shepherds. Tracy Bullinger has been at working, showing and breeding WGSL dogs for a long time and has a good rep.

Thanks Koots. I have also heard great things about Bullinger. I will get in contact with them but I am also leaning strongly on getting a pup from the breeder in the next round. Great that we still have reputable breeders around . Especially when making this life commitment with our dogs.

I like Temar. Mary Dygert breeds for the whole package from what I've seen.
I really like her dogs. She's in Oregon.

I waited over a year to get a pup from the sire I wanted. The bitch wouldn't come into heat and then didn't take. I was referred to another breeder who had bred a female to same sire. I was wanting a black male...was fairly certain I would get what I wanted. Female was noted for large litters only had TWO males and both sable. Sire owner got pick and I took the second male. While I really wanted a black male, I am thrilled with the male I did get.

It depends on how badly you want the breeding you want. Or if you can find something else that makes you happy.
