I am trying to enter my first pedigree. What does KKL mean?

It means the dog has been assessed by a German Koermeister, and given the KKL rating, which means it is recommended for breeding by the German GSD registry.

If you go to a trial, there will be a breed judge who rates your dog and writes a breed report detailing the plus's and minus's for your dogs quality for breeding. A KKL rating means that your dog is suitable for breeding. It used to be KKL1 and KKL2, but the SV changed that to just KKL at the beginning of 2012.

The KKL can only be given at a breed survey, not at a trial unless there is a breed survey along with the trial. The dog has to have a show rating, working title, hips and elbows certified, and DNA tested before it can go through the breed survey.

Curious - the OP seems to be in Pembroke Corgis (and none of the pedigrees they have posted so far are of German bred dogs, it looks like); do 'they' (not the SV, obvs !) even have Koerklasse / Surveys for Corgis ? Or is this a new GSD addition to their kennel, or perhaps the initials mean something else entirely in the context of Corgi pedigrees ?

Markobytes - Sorry - you are correct. I just did not get specific enough about the trial having a breed survey and the other qualifications. Thank you for clarifying my answer.
