I also have a similar book from Werner Dalm ( sp) along with articles from Konrad Most, from which I supplemented myself when I was breeding these dogs in early nineties.

Thank you so much for contributing to this post -- you have shared some very interesting info and the type of thing that only those who were active with the DDR dogs in the 80s/early 90s would know.
If the original post was about the semantics of what makes a DDR dog, I would say that I look back at the pedigree -- do all the bloodlines go back to dogs who were registered with the DDR registry? Even if west German dogs were included in the breeding program in the 70s or 80s, they were being incorporated into the DDR registry, so I consider their descendants DDR bloodlines.
None of the bloodlines of today are 100% consistent. Not all Czech dogs are the same type and not all German dogs are the same type, and not all DDR dogs -- of the past or of today -- are of the same type. You can generalize, for sure, but the individual is going to be more important than the bloodline to say what the dog in front of you is right now.
