Christy and I are FB friends and we see ea h other fairly often. I actually gave her my inhaler, since they never work for me.

Her current ailments are awful. I a glad she finally pushed to get a diagnosis. Doctors have been telling her it's "just asthma".

Good job, guys.

"It´s # ( 1 ), Kiwi, written down in the "Zuchtordnung, Fassung 2014, point 4, page 6,
http://www.schaeferhunde-mv.de/attachments/article/22/Zuchtordnung%20Fassung%202014.pdf
easy to find."

Problems galore there, Susie. Starting with that I have NO idea what your "It´s # ( 1 )" stands for, The word "It" is a pronoun, and English grammar insists that each pronoun relates/refers to the last noun mentioned. As you used "It" as the first word of your response, I am left with no clue, as I have no idea what that "# ( 1 )" refers to. So okay, as ich nicht sprechen sie Deutsche, I had to rely on Google Translate and find page 6, point 4. Done - which Google reckons says
"

Genetic and breeding conditions

"
with the worst bits coloured red by me. Some of the mysteries are because Deutsche and English have different grammatical "rules", just as French did when I was required to study it at boarding school, and so can be made rational by guesses as to where various words should be mentally moved to. But that doesn't always work! Except for SPEED, the alert human mind is still way superior to the digital computer, and Isaac Asimov's "I, Robot" and "The Bicentennial Man" are not yet with us..
However, my ex-DDR friend
(symbol ) has found time to answer my queries (symbol ) in her non-Google version of English, and sent me these replies to my queries:

"and within SV any long coat without under coat, blue, liver, or white German Shepherd dog, as long as bred out of pedigreed, titled, and breed surveyed parents, will remain a German Shepherd dog within SV" as you wrote.
"False. (Or Yes and No.  Not in the Breed Book. Only on a register not to be bred from.)
which we sorted out as being a register equivalent to NZKC's "Obedience Only" Register - which in most countries is available for even pooches of unknown ancestry, but for which most kcs require proof of neutering before a pooch can be entered into it and given a registration code.

"I've long been under the impression that, as of the 1930 Standard. self-whites weren't registerable except as Alt Deutschers."

"Possibly CORRECT.. I am not familiar with the
breeding regulations for the Altdeutscher Schäferhund. Their owners are with a dissident club.

"And if the SH and LSH are the same breed, why do they have separate classes at the BSZS?"

"Because they are two different varieties of the same breed. They can never compete against each other under the SV System."
Which takes us into the thorny waters of semantics and tribal attitudes. As far as I am concerned, if there are separate BREED Registers (as with #1 Poodles, #2 Poodles (Miniature) and #3 Poodles (Toy) - and as with #1 Cocker Spaniels and #2 American Cocker Spaniels - and as with #1 Deutsche Schäferhunds and #2 Bergers Blanc Suisse), then what's in one BREED Register but not in the other is a SEPARATE BREED. And so the SH and the LSH are separate BREEDS and the LH is not a breed, just an "outcast". Our NZKC had to change its regulations to allow our GSD specialist clubs to continue operating as "single breed clubs" yet hold classes for "TWO breeds".

"Are "pink" pedigrees available for pups who have one SH parent, one LSH parent? If they are, is there any indication that the intention is to allow that "forever", or that there is an intention to ban such cross-breedings after a few years?"

"From the day of accepting the Long Stock Coat, with undercoat, as a Variety of the GSD,
the SV issued the Breeding Regulations for the LSC identical to the SC Variety of GSD.Each will be bred and registered in the breeding books according to their variety. The ruling forbade mating a Stock Coat dog to a Long Stock Coat. Although the LSC will occur in litters from 2 stock coats, they will be registered as LSC and will never have access to either a stock coated breeding partner, or the stock coat breed registration. The LSC puppy is registered in the breed book and issued a pedigree for the  LSC variety and will come under all the rules and regulations of his SC litter mates, in regards to training, showing, breeding, each in his own variety of Stock Coat or Long Stock Coat. Both varieties have an undercoat. Any puppy that happens to be a long coated dog WITHOUT the required undercoat, is still, as before, not eligible for breed survey, not eligible for breeding as it shows a disqualifying fault.
"

"when using a "acronyme finder" you should think about the context ( in this case forum "
I prefer to NOT use an acronym finder (actually, acronyms are words formed from initials and that can be said as WORDS, not as letter-names. ASCII, LASER, NASA, NATO, RADAR are acronyms, but DDR, FDR, GSD, UK, USA are abbreviations). Every interest group, every occupation, has its "jargon". But those jargons should NOT be inflicted on the public outside that group or occupation.
In a GSD group, abbreviations such as GSD, SH, LSH, LH, HD, ED, DM, BH, AD, FH, IPO, SchH can usually be used, unless there is a newcomer to the group. But for CLARITY, courteously take the extra second to actually SPELL the word  or words. That is especially so in groups where the members have vastly different FIRST languages. And when you refer to a member of the group, always courteously type his/her name or username.

""We" already are the word champions of "rules" and "tests","
Such OPTIMISM!
The Pommies
(admittedly, many Pommies have distant German ancestry) are the ones who delight in rules so complicated that no-one can actually remember them all. Compare the rules for Olympic sports begun in Greece (such as boxing, discus throw, javelin throw, long jump, shot put, wrestling) with BRITISH sports such as Rugby and Soccer. But Rugby 7s remains my preferred spectator sport.

"
For "us" it´s pretty easy - either you follow the rules or you are not allowed to breed - no working "title" = no breed survey = no breeding."
But that is nothing to do with whether it is FUN.
You are COMPELLED to choose between (
1) obeying OR (2) staying outside the activity of breeding and the activity of competing in FCI-rules showings. Were the SV's judges more aware of what GSDs are supposed to be, instead of concentrating on "politics", they would be far superior to AKC, CKC, NZKC, The KC
(UK) judges. However, reality is that corruption is rife and a high proportion of SV winners are NOT trained by their owners but by professionals - and that there are corrupt assessors of SchH just as there are corrupt SV judges who use "elastic" measuring sticks when surveying pooches to be exported and corrupt radiographers who manipulate the pooch of favoured clients to "help" it gain an 'a'-stamp and the elbows equivalent that I call 'e'-stamps.
However, in our worst period for temperament, at our GSD club shows we had our judges throw a "witch's hat"
(road cone) or deck chair to safely land just ahead of each stanced exhibit. Sadly, NZKC soon banned that attempt at temperament testing. Judges may still whack their own leg with a clip-board, but I can't recollect any SV-ticket judge here bothering to do so. The late Barbara Lines (Melony Kennels, UK) amazed me with her fitness - she would start the line circling then approach each from behind, crowding its rear end without touching it. But, like the best breeders I know, she started off in obedience, and breeding & showing came later.

"
Kiwi, I really think you do have a lot of knowledge, and it´s good you came over here, but this is no school, we don´t need a teacher, we need someone willing to discuss, explain, if necessary, but at eyelevel, because the members of this forum are adults, not your pupils."
Your last 3 words are correct, although a couple of people in the pdb are my fans, protégés, whatever.
I vehemently deny your "
we don´t need a teacher". The ignorance of so MANY people who own dogs is shocking. And a "teacher" IS "someone willing to discuss, explain".
As for what "
adults" are, we obviously differ. You presumably define an adult as "someone who has reached a particular chronological age" - which used to be 21, but got reduced in several countries - especially those that wanted lots of soldiers ready to kill 'enemies'. Based on reports from psychologists, humans are not mentally mature
(one important requirement for "adult" behaviour & thinking) before the chronological age of 26. And many never reach that mental level. When their education system is overloaded (as happens whenever a country accepts a LOT of refugees for whom the teacher's language is alien - which happened after each World War, and is happening at present thanks to poverty and the activities of unsocialised delinquents such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS, and the unsocialised delinquents still active in parts of South America), the pupils are handicapped.
Genetically, about ¼ of the population are incapable of thinking the way we expect adults to think:

http://www.edublox.com/iq-test/iq04.htm
You will find the top end of that quarter, plus the bottom end of the other ¾s, in Yahoo!Answers.
https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20160617105022AApgFQI&page=1

https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20150829194454AAExnkw

Notice how unsocialised inferior intellects are so keen to insult those who DO have enough sense to ASK about things that puzzle them.

"
The "OP" asked a honest question, she didn´t want to become involved in the tricky world of dog politics, she just wants to have fun with her dog. She asked about "AKC", she is living in the USA, and I hope she got her answers."
Depending on what a person regards as "
fun" about showing a dog, it is unlikely to happen WITHOUT getting involved in the politics. But regardless, I am concerned to have people know what a GSD is - and in some countries worthy GSDs are few & far between!
I think she did, but if you are worried, ASK her. She might still visit this thread, but quicker would be to click her avatar on ph.6 - I haven't asked permission to publicise her personal e-address.

"
I think, Les, that - even when correct - like many gentlemen of a certain age, especially ex-pedagogues, you think you are being amusing; unfortunately you often come across as pedantic and (dare I say it ?) a bit of a bully !"
Oi! There is a scroll on my foyer's wall
(it was presented me by my wife, but could have been presented to me by my chums at boarding school in the mid-1950s, based on what one of them told my mother while he was holidaying with us in about 1956) that states that I am ALWAYS right! How dare you call my chums & wife wrong?

And although a "gentleman" is not ALWAYS a gentleman, a pedagogue is NEVER an "ex-pedagogue".

I amuse myself - what's the point of being alive if there is no amusement happening? I don't consider it necessary to amuse others - but I do consider it necessary to state things as I believe them to be. If my belief is wrong, prove me wrong and I will learn the truth.

I TRY to ALWAYS be pedantic. When people mangle words they end up conveying meanings they didn't intend. With the best will in the world, it is easy for people using different vocabularies & grammars to misunderstand each other. When my now-dead friends who were raised in Glasgow went back to visit their relatives, I knew to stay away for about 6 weeks after their return, while John & Esther regained their Kiwi accent & grammar etc.

I hope I get time before the 3-hour-limit is reached to correct the over-sizes that the software has put into this. In several sections I could click the size button as many times as I likes, but the displayed text stayed the same size - only the "indicator" altered, it flicking between [Size] and the [18] that I wanted.

Update. Nope - the display stayed at the over-sizes.

GSD Admin (admin)

by GSD Admin on 25 June 2016 - 06:06

Les, going after the admin is never a good idea. Giving the admin grief is never a good idea. Being a smart ass to amuse yourself is probably not always going to make people enjoy being around you, posting with you or endear you with the admin. We really don't have to take anything from you when it comes to trying to be funny with us. We can ban you for being annoying if we so choose and I think all the admin have been more than patient with you. If we took a vote right now to ban you, you would lose 3-0. We don't want to take that vote because we are hoping we don't have to but we will if we feel that we must. I hope you take my post as constructive criticism but one never knows so the ball is really in your court. Regards

Believe whatever you want...I don´t care any more.

GSD Admin, in case I´d be allowed to vote, it´s 4-0 by now.

Hello , well I took my girl out to the show & she won her class. Just a random ribbon with 1st place on it. The judge didn't put her up after that . She was up against champions & others competing for their Grand champion points. she received alot of compliments. Heck I wasnt even expecting that much. There were mostly all showlines at the event , besides my WL entourage. Beauty held her own & im proud of her. Besides that she tried her hand at dock diving as well. So all in all I'd say we had a great time at the event. I actually learned alot from the judge . It was quite different than UKC. I would post pics but for some reason it never let's me do it in a thread . So I put some in her gallery. Thanks to all who replied to my thread & I will keep taking her untill she gets it. Nothing really to lose & she had fun.
