I had my pup spayed at 11 months today. While under anesthesia, her vet took a quick xray of her hips.

I'm waiting for the radiology report, but would love some evaluations from here.

Right hip better placed than left, I'd guess Good.

Vet had concern about left, but suggested bad positioning.

Something not sitting right with me. Whole left side looks smaller.

I've got to agree with Anthony on his opinion about the left side beign smaller. However, like your vet said, it could be bad positioning. If you don't mind answering, why was she spayed?  Since you obviously will not be breeding her, I wouldn't be too worried about the hips. However if you will be doing some kind of sport training, I can understand why you maybe concerned. There are alot of supplements that can aide with any bone and joint issues should there be one.

Good Luck with your girl.

I had her spayed, and the vet simply asked if I'dlike to get her hips examined while she was under anesthesia. I agreed for no reason other than curiosity.

She was spayed because we decided that breeding wasn't in her future, and it was in her best long term interest to get her spayed.

What's her breeding like?

Odd positioning, but I don't like the formation of those hips a whole lot.

Please elaborate.

Here's her pedigree.

So much for that.

Her pelvis is tilted so that the left hip is further from the camera than the right hip.  I suspect that is what is making it appear smaller.

Hip ball coverage by the socket is what determines rating of hips.  The dog does not appear to be dysplastic.

I had my dog spayed at 20 months and had the vet throw an xRay at her hips while she was knocked out.  Even if you are not breeding the dog, it is a good baseline to have in the dog's chart for future reference is there is an issue.

Of course the angle is making the one side look smaller. That's not what I meant; I just don't personally care for the conformation/formation of the joints. The sockets are a tad shallow for my taste, though the heads are in there pretty tight, so I wouldn't worry about it. I was only curious about the breeding from a bone standpoint. I'm a nerd. I like to study different bloodlines' inherent hip conformations.

UPDATE!!

Just thought I'd throw this out there.

I had the Xray OFA'd, and they said the Xray was inconclusive, and could not be used, due to poor positioning.

They suggested another Xray.

Thank you all, for you input.

I agree with OFA, the xray is not diagnostic.
