Most have them 61 days- from ovulation, not mating. Get your catcher's mitt :D

My females always whelp on day 63 :) you will need a heat lamp that you can put in the corner of her whelping box. I hang mine but there is absolutely no way it could fall. It should be a consistent 85* in the room for the 3-4 days then you can drop it a little but have the heat lamp on 24/7. You can get a heat lamp from a pet store in the reptile area. That's what I use. My whelping box is huge as I breed shepherds so my lamp would be a higher watt that yours so keep that in mind if you go that route but heat is imperative. Your breeder friend can help you decide. Pups will move away from or move closer to heat as they feel warm or cold. Sounds hot but those babies need to keep warm. Best of luck, sounds like she will whelp any time.

I just got home from picking up my friend, today I will get a heat lamp. I would've had the perfect heat lamp, but a bear tore it down and killed all my chickens last night, so I'm kinda in shock! Also I think she will have the pups pretty soon, she seems different this morning.

Relax, what happened to the heating mat, if she is in the house and it has heat the mat should be able to do the job.  You can put a blanket over the top when she is finished and keep it even warmer if you can't get the lamp in time.

Remember the look she has and been through if you plan on more breedings, it helps a lot when the Dam did not read and mark the Calendar for you.

Good luck hope all goes well and you enjoy the experience.

Ok I will use the heating mat. She hasn't left her whelpig box all day so I think that today might be the day. Yay, I can't wait to see the puppies!

I meant I was in shock from losing all my chickens to a bear last night. I had 16.

I was wrong about her due date, she isn't due for another week.

She would be due 55-63 days from ovulation. This because it could be 5 days from date of breeding.

When was she bred.

As she is a smaller type go for the earlier dates.

When the temp drops then starts to rise is when she will have them IF things are quiet and she feels safe.

My vet says...58 days from ovulation (most don't do progesterone testing), no more than 65 days after first breeding.

I've had a gal go 64 days from first breeding, scheduled a c-section, and she had them the night before, 10 perfect puppies.

Yeah, I'm counting 63 days from breeding, give or take a few.
