His sire line goes back to Canto vom Wienerau in like the 7th generation.

I can't see it. if it is in the seventh generation I do not think it will influence anything in my dog. From the 4th generation in my opinion they do not influence.

Respectfully disagree. It's just that the farther back in the pedigree, the less genetic material from any specific dog, but it's still there.

Fero is 7 generations back in my dog's pedigree, and like him, she screams while working. Fero is known for producing offspring with this trait, and many of his descendants exhibit this trait. I don't know how many of my dog's littermates exhibit this.

When I look at photos of dogs way back in my dog's pedigree, she looks a lot like them, especially the foundation dog for one of her lines. She looks different from dogs in lines other than hers. There is some resemblance with dogs that have a mixture of lines, of which at least one is one of my dog's lines.

My dog is Line 2 and Line 4, and a little Line 5. She definitely, strongly exhibits most traits of both Lines 2 and 4, and identifiably exhibits one specific trait from Line 5, although not as strongly as the traits from Lines 2 and 4, and doesn't exhibit traits unique to Lines1, 3, and 6.

I'm not saying the sire line going back to Cato is a good or bad thing. Just something I noticed because majority of modern day working lines German Shepherds do not go back to showlines on the sire line.

But Fero you can see it in a pedigree 5 times! but a dog that is only once and in 7th generation.... Cato was from show lines but most Western working German Shepherds, Czechs even DDR... go back to those lines.
