Actuallly, none of Basler's arguments are relevant.  I do understand Joan you do not advocate for any controls.

So sorry, because Obama is going to change things and the NRA is going to learn that, because the time has come to knock some common sense into the rhetoric.

by joanro on 24 December 2012 - 15:12

Bee, with all due respect, never claimed that I do not advocate for any controls.

Just not against automatic assault rifles so you can shoot squirrels? LOL  Merry Christmas Joan, BTW!

Just for clarification we are talking SEMI automatic weapons here,

Automatic weapons are illegal and I believe it is an automatic life in jail sentence for illegal possesion.

SEMI automatics require pulling the trigger each time you fire a shot. The supposed weapon used in CT was semi automatic.

Hi NInja, Merry Christmas to you , too!

I know you know I'm a gun ninny and just really lump them all together.

Thank you for the clarification because other people ( besides me)  will have to draw that line somewhere.

Bee, don't bee ridiculous. :-/ a semi-automatic 22 long rifle can hardly bee classified as an "automatic assault rifle". (Stay honest, as you are reputed to be, and please don't twist my words). Besides that, the gun the whacko used was not an "automatic" anything, it was SEMI- automatic, which means the trigger must be pulled each time to fire it. The difference between a semi- auto and non auto, is that it doesn't need to be re-cocked after each shot. whereas an "automatic" only requires holding the trigger. I still say that the crazys should be banned, they will find another way to commit mass murder, whether they have gun a or not. I also don't believe in punishing an entire society because of the horrible behavior of sickos and sociopaths. That is reducing every responsible, sane person to the low level of the worst in society. Here's an analogy you might be able to relate to: a dog bites a child and so every dog in the country is required to wear a muzzle, twenty four/seven for the remainder of it's life, if caught without it, the owner is sent to prison.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to you, too.

Hi Bee,

Merry Christmas to you and the family.

I know we have different opinions on this subject matter, but I still LOVE you. LOL

Anyway you are basically at GROUND ZERO so I know exactly where you are coming from.

Thank God this wasn't at one of your boy's schools.

Also, although there are many different opinions on this subject, no matter what your view is, I believe we all have the same goal. We need to stop this kind of tragedy altogether.

Joanro, I admit it, I was happier in my ignorant bliss. Red Smile  Thank you for the lesson, I will be forced to be more precise in the future. You do however refer to squirrels as "tree rats", yes... or did I get that wrong, too?  Thinking

by joanro on 24 December 2012 - 16:12

Honesty and accuracy should not have to be "forced". And, no, you did not get it wrong; tree rats are squirrels, squirrels are tree rats. Both rats and squirrels are destructive. Squirrels will steal chicken eggs from the hen house just like a rat (as well as duck eggs from the duck yard), and they will decimate a vegetable garden, just like a rat. Both are good to eat, however, I personally have never eaten a rat. But they are a staple in parts of India. I didn't mean to offend you with "tree rats". Lol.

Stay safe and enjoy your holidays.
