YES, BUT :

It would help if the description "ASL" had been accompanied by a photograph OF an American Show Line dog, and not a West German S/L dog (taken, by the looks of it, in England). There is enough confusion out there without perpetuating that sort of mistake. I'd also take issue with some of the rest of Kris's 'script' on this video; he would have done better to stick with the stuff he knows - and be a bit more precise about that, than waffling (frankly) about the Standard and showdogs. Including 'the Stack'.

Interested to hear "There's not a lot of German Shepherd left in there" about the Malinois.

Actually, there's not a even a LOT in there about the WORKING GSD,

is there ?  Had to wait until 3/4 way through.  And he just chucks in

"better character", "drives", "IPO", "BH" etc without translation or explanation of what those are; anyone new coming in would be every bit as confused as those newbies just looking at all those initials on paper pedigrees.

Clearly well-meaning, and some handsome dogs in his kennel, but this would definitely not be my preferred video to show someone to introduce them to the breed.

In case anyone wants complete clarity, the "West German Showline" dog shown early in the video is almost certainly a British-born dog of (West) German parentage, like the majority exhibited at Crufts - which is where the picture was taken. This dog had never been anywhere near an American S/L;  if readers want to see typical ASL dogs, good ones of their type, though not my personal taste in German Shepherd Dogs, take a look at the pictures on Xeph's current thred "Another Milestone".

You might see dogs that look something like the one in the video in a Show in America, but that will usually be at an SV style Show; you are unlikely to find many - even those just imported from Germany - in the Rings of an American Kennel Club Show;  and certainly nobody is much in the habit of treating these as "ASL"s.

He should be talking about breed, standard abilities, capabilities, etc, don't push or acknowledge types of lines, these line types are NOT in the standard, tell folks what the dog is by standard, what to expect, by standard, and let them know if pups or dogs don't reflect those traits, they are substandard...regardless of identifiable line.

Probably, Gustav ... in an ideal world.
But he HAD introduced the differences, so I thought the least that could be done would be to correct the misinformation.
