Valk,

Thanks for your input. Yes, he was fighting in prey mode and that was our goal. He was in aggression before (don’t have video) when we were simulating the car jacking. I have described it before.

We are intentionally doing long sessions to build up the stamina and to teach the dog not to give up. We don’t want the dog to tire himself out if he was really put in a fight. At least our goal is to train for harder than what is realistic. May not be the right approach, but that’s what I typically do even with myself in real life. Prepare for more than you would expect in the hopes you can deal with whatever you are preparing for better.

Hope this makes sense.

Apple,

Funny I was just texting with the decoy who just sent me a picture of his tricep after he was bit my dog last night. Nice bruise covering most of the back of his upper arm. We used the same analogy as you used to describe Mali vs GSD biting style. He is heading to a seminar with I believe 15 other decoys and it will be a bitefest!!

Prey is not a bad way to teach a dog juno. It will keep the dog relaxed keep his grip solid and will keep his drive up if I'm training a dog to do pp I will always switch from prey to aggression. I have a 3 year old girl and for over 2 years I trained this way. not my idea this came from a world famous dog trainer and what he said do this for as long as the dog needs it. Don't be the big man and rush your dog. This female would absolutely fu## you up. what switching up the prey and aggression has done is build confidence strength and stability in her fight and she will never give up.
