Has everyone read Helmut Raisers speech and interview from the SV Zeitung???? I wonder if the show people in Germany will really open their eyes and start to incorporate more stable workable blood??? I have seen an incline of work dogs with some showlines 3-4 generations back. I have found a few websites that are breeding V-rated work dogs to showline females (In Germany). Maybe Dr Raiser is not the only person that see's the problem and is working on it. What is everyone's opinion. I do not want a show vs work so stay the F*** off my listing if you want to turn this into stupid worthless wining. I am wanting your opinions not stupid going back and forth at each other.

Actually, I kind of like this strong tone - Hundguy is so right - most of the forum discursions turn into stupid polemics and they are rather pride parades than pertinent talks on dogs. I'm not an expert, but, still, here's my opinion: to me the idea seams great - as long as the perfect German shepherd should look like a show one and work like a work one, why not try this kind of breeding? The final, good result would probably appear after several generations, but it's definitely worth trying. Look at Timo Berrekasten!

Hundguy, good way to get a negative response, anyway,Raiser v SV has been going on for years & will continue.Yet again they end up in court(only winners are the scum called lawyers).Very interesting to read Raisers pre/post speaches.I only hope he conducts the courage test at the BSZ as he's been threating to do.Just maaaaaybeeee some surprises will be seen? With all the problems & the JOKE they had as last breed warden. At least he's honest & a brilliant trainer( I went to a couple of his seminars approx 15yrs ago). Some people think he is arrogant but he's far from it given a chance. The breed is at crossroads & in desperate need of revival, maybe he's "The Man"

July - Believe or not - there are people who truly prefer the looks of the working dogs as well! Yes - they may be in the MINORITY - especially on this forum! But definitely out there.

I have a male he is like 14-15 time SchH3 and I have competed with him at the national level trials. He is G-KKL2. I love his temperament, drives and his spirit. But he is not a V or VA KKL1 dog. I wish he was more correct in comformation!!!! I have no problem talking about each of my dogs problems NONE of them are perfect!!!! No kennel blindness here, I love him but he could be more complete in type.

So if we plan to bring the work out in the conformation or put a little structure in the working...... Which works best? Breeding working to conformation or stay within the conformation or working lines and find the best examples of each to breed to? Any examples??????

I wonder if the show people in Germany will really open their eyes and start to incorporate more stable workable blood??? All genuine breeders throughout the world, not just in Germany, are looking to incorporate more stable working ability into their kennels bloodlines. The question constantly asked by these breeders is, where is it, and where is it with excellent conformation, excellent movement, pigment, colour, hair quality, substance and endurance? Breeders do not want to introduce one aspect at the cost of losing one or more other valuable aspect of their Kennel. Some show dogs have excellent working character, and some transmit it to many offspring, we need to place additional emphasis on this important aspect of our breed. It is a fact that some working dogs are relatively poor producers of working ability. I personally would like to see some of the TOP working producers bloodlines, introduced, with some top producing show females. I would also want to meet the brave breeder who is willing to do it, with his BEST producing female. Equally I would like to see the TOP show producing bloodlines, introduced, with some top producing working females. I would also want to meet the brave breeder who is willing to do it, with his BEST producing female. Breeders are like Judges, they all have their preferences, and their own viewpoint. This is why we must ALL use THE BREED STANDARD when making our breeding decisions. THE BREED STANDARD refers to all aspects of our breed, and gives us the blueprint, or template for our aims. We breed German Shepherd Dogs, if any breeder forsakes any aspect wothin our breed standard, they should consider breeding another breed, or another species. THE BREED STANDARD is ours, we ALL have the responsibility of following it. In my opinion, deviations from THE BREED STANDARD, should be tackled most vigorously by our breeds 'so called' LEADERS. If they cannot do it, they should be changed.
