Im only interested in working lines but as a bonus i would like the dog to have good conformation but it isn't a, don't care too much about the colour pigmentation of the dog, I'm from London and i would search anywhere to find good honest breeders that care about the breed even to the Upside Down. Most of my potential breeders that i would buy in Europe some from USA and a few from Eastern Europe.

In addition to health, pigment and structure, what traits are you looking for and what are your goals for the dog?

by ValK on 10 May 2019 - 17:05

what a problem with jinopo's dogs that you wouldn't consider them?

by xPyrotechnic on 10 May 2019 - 18:05

@apple strong nerves, calm, decent defence drive but strong prey drive with fight, has to keep me occupied i like a dog who is mischievous. When the dog is in their kennel (as they would not be allowed in the house at all only in the case of emergency) they should be calm and alert but when i take the dog out it needs to be energetic looking for something to do. The weakness of the dog should be his obedience is not great but with proper socialisation and training it should be good enough. The goal of the dog should be first and foremost police dog or border patrol dog then a herder/ companion( not companion as in a pet but a companion as in doing ipo stuff like that)

@nothing wrong with jinopo or the way they breed them just prefer to buy dogs that are bred out of breeders not so known to keep the genetic pool wide as i would be breeding ddr and czech gsds with each other according to the strengths and weakness of the dog.

From the sound of it you could do worse than approach the British Police breeding kennels in the various forces dog sections and ask whether they have any spare pups they are willing to sell. As you are a Londoner, start with Keston & I'll PM you with the names of other kennels you could speak to. These dogs are mostly not influenced so much by Czech and 'DDR' bloodlines, (although they have imported some) but so much seems to be done in the name of those that is actually not so great, I don't reckon its a particularly safe bet to start sending around the world / across the pond in search of a supposedly narrower gene pool to where you cannot so easily meet dogs, see stock, ask questions. There are some sharks out there. Be prepared for these breeders to ask you a lot of questions too.

ok thanks will be waiting for that list i saw the Keston police kennel on youtube it was a good watch learnt how to look for the right puppy for policing. The reason why i said the thing about the gene pool is that in about 10 to 20 years time, most likely the amount of dogs that people will have from jinopo would increase as they are famous (people generally like to buy things from famous companies or breeders), and most people would breed with the dogs that they have. Then let's say after 100 years most of the working line gsd will at some point have jinopo dogs in them and then more people will buy jinopo dogs. This is all hypothetical and the worse case scenario i am by no means saying this will most definitely happen. I copied this approach from a kennel that breeds ddr gsds but in their breeding program they never use famous or well known ddr bloodlines the reason they said that is to stay ahead of the game so they are planning for the future.

xPyrotechnic:

seems you do not realize that type of former border dogs been long gone with all those borders.

Jinopo isn't kennel in typical meaning. it's cooperation different kennels under jinopo umbrella. supposedly should have quite wide gene pool. Jiri Novotny and Jiri Pokorny, founders of this cooperation, have respective own kennels. dogs, sold through Jinopo, not necessarily carry close relation to dogs used in their kennels.

Yes i know the former dogs is long gone in the previous topics i have read there was an extensive debate about this, i am not looking for those former dogs or their progeny. I also know that there is Jipo-me and jirkova dvora and z blatenskho zamu under jinopo th last one is not bought that often compared to the first 2 so i would rather go for the last one to put into the bloodline i wish to create.

Duke said it best, but it may take a few years of experience and doing to actually recognize dogs with whatever attributes you are looking for.

good luck and hope you keep us updated on your progress.

Pyro, I think the famous IPO dogs have a much greater impact on worldwide breed, there will be far more dogs in the world with Javir, hank or whatever in the pedigree, than there will be dogs with ANY of Jinopo studs and/or lines
