Joan

You and I are talking about different things. I'm not talking about a great handler making a weak dog look strong. I'm talking about an experienced handler putting control and proper training on a strong dog.

Are You Experienced?

Hans

I'm trying not to talk directly about that dog, but I'm saying a dog like that in the right hands........ Heck, a fella like yourself might think he's another prey monster if he's not out of control and unruly. This dog isn't as rare as you think. But LOL.....that "Sportism" sure did make him sleeve happy!

OK, JMO. in 2009. I am sitting in Atlanta Hartsfield Cargo, waiting on my pick from 2008, 3rd ring BSZS, futher Regional Segierin in USA

also waiting are 3 LEO from Cobb County Georgia. They are waiting for GSD for LE from Europe.

because there is nothing else to do, we talk GSD.

they talk dogs good for LE, give me card, and recommend Hans, Prager, blabla, whatever.

I can't name them, pretty sure blabla could.

just a real world experience,
Rik

Alright... Hendrix! Now were talking Vito! Makes this thread more than worthwhile.

An experienced trainer putting control on a strong dog .

So you are not talking about the dog in the video.

Your question needs to be more specific. At my age I am experienced in a wide range of training....in a wide range of species.

Joan-
Your Stevie Ray Vaughan a few days ago also made it worthwhile 😎

Ha! I was just listening to SRV Cross Fire....he is the best of the best!!!

Joan

No, I'm talking about dogs, as a whole.
Just messing around with the "Are You Experienced" thing. Just an excuse to post Jimi

But speaking of Jimi, my point was that the results of a dog are different in the hands of different trainers/training. Thousands of people play the same guitar as Hendrix, but they get totally different results. SRV was very influenced by Jimi, but his approach and style is different. He attacked the strings. Played aggressively. Both of them were very influenced by Albert King.

Joan-
Yep. For sure.
Vito-
Excellent analogy. Your personality comes through the guitar and through the dog - when training/playing the dog.
Sitting only about 5 miles from the Hendrix house in Seattle as I write this.

ADD: Just saw the Hendrix house was torn down 2009...didn’t know that.

@Vito; Ofcourse!

I can say the same about horses...I traded a Percheron I broke to ride and drive for a rank paint stud Colt, just coming a three. The owners were ready to junk him to a rodeo company for saddle bronc.

Took me three months to stop him from throwing himself over backwards and scrubbing his back on the ground when I was breaking him to saddle. Rode him all over this country in our travels to venues on days off. I put a handle on him that was pure ecstacy to ride!

Did an act with him under saddle that was to an old cowboy poem...brought tears to audiences' eyes, a drama in which he played the role perfectly.

Long story short, I trained him to do what others have tried to copy, but never cut it....

Worked them in blacked out collesiums under spot lights, or mud litterally up to their knees...same performance no matter where. Dogs I trained for sch would work in any venue, same same....good animals and good training.

Till I got that horse, he had the reputation of an outlaw and destined to a short life.

I lost him five years ago at 28 years old.
