Saoa, Why are you making a big deal of having a health check done? hodie not only boards her own dogs but she's boards other peoples dogs, of which she is paid to train and to title them. She is responsible for the dogs health. I don't think the owners of the dogs would like if if she sent back the dog in horrible health condition because of a infection of another dog, It wouldn't look too good in her business.. I have full respect for that rule.

Hi Brittany, its is not just my opinion. I stated SEVERAL others. We discussed it, and we declined to go. Then have it somewhere away from where your dogs are boarded. That is usually the case anyway...

Saoa, I still don't understand...

Here's what I found at last year's show... 1) No catalog at the show. I emailed and called Sharyn about it, each time she assured me that it would be sent. I had to get a copy from the USA office. Not a great way to get people back to your show. 2) Two puppy classes were placed wrong in the cataglog I received from the USA office. I was there and watched the classes, but also have it on video. It was only puppy classes, but I believe the puppy owners paid entry fees, too. (20 dogs at the show and two classes were screwed up?) 3) Fecals. None of the other shows require it. Added expense. On the plus, they had a great judge. I know it's expensive to get an SV judge. This is just first hand experience. Sometimes there are reasons why a show gets smaller every year.

Holtgrew quoted "Sometimes there are reasons why a show gets smaller every year." I believe those reasons aren't just errors from presidents is because the dog puts on a very bad performance, like the working part... I could not believe what I saw on the 2004 Canadian sieger video that famtreasures hosted up on their site. I seen dogs that was basically terrified of the helper and wanted nothing to do with him. The helper basically had to give the dog the sleeve! most of theses dogs were bred by famous kennel names, which makes it even more ashamed. How do you expect people to take time off from work, which is money losing and spend money on the airplane and hotals ( if entering dogs, that expense as well) and seeing 1 heck of a crappy show??? Saoa, :) The only thing that i have a problem with is " no smoking inside and outside", well i can understand inside but outside?!?!? most americans are smokers... dont think people are going to quit for this show.

The issue of having feces checked is a red herring and an excuse as SOAA and Holtgrew both know. Soaa is angry over something else. However, since she can afford to breed and breed and breed untitled dogs, what is the comparitive burden to pay for the cost of a fecal sample? About $20 per dog. She and others allow their dogs to run loose where they live where parasites, including giardia, can be picked up. I do not want dogs who have active infection here. Period. The rules for my property are as they are. ALL dogs, whether club members, clients here for training, or boarding, or for that matter, dogs of friends of mine are REQUIRED to have all vaccinations current, including bordatella, and a clear stool sample. These are the rules. For what it is worth, these same rules apply at all kennels I know of in this area. I have a dog justa few weeks ago only to find it had a whipworm infection. Once such parasites are introduced to a facility, it can be very difficult, if not impossible to make it clean again, especially if it is outside. Continued in next post:

Continued from above: During events people sometimes ask to put their dogs in the building for one reason or another. Last year and in years past, though we ask all people to clean up after their dogs, in fact, they do not. It is imperative to me to keep my property as clean as can be. It is imperative to me that I never have an event and have people take dogs home who end up ill as has happened in other events. I also do not plan to spend hours going around picking up after careless smokers who could give a damn about where they throw their cigarrette butts. As well, I live in a grassland area and a cigarette, carelessly discarded can and has started dangerous and fast moving brush fires. As it is, the insurance on my property is almost more than I can afford. So my rules are what they are. As far as a catalog, one is NOT required to furnish one at a show. Had Holtgrew and her partner turned in properly competed paperwork prior to the show as required, three of us would not have been working on the catalog to fix it at 2 in the morning the night before the show. Had paperwork not been removed from the property that was required to be sent in to the sponsoring organization, perhaps instead of my wasting time trying to get it back I might have had more time to do other things I would have liked to do. Continued from above: Because there were changes in the catalog, I had to get it back from the German Judge who took it to Germany because he had to leave to catch a plane. Getting it back took a long time. In the meantime Holtgrew emailed me a rude email and threatened me if I did not send her a copy. I told her to get it from USA in that case as I am not required to provide a catalog. In any case, the poster above and her partner did not follow the rules at the event and were told already they are not permitted to participate in the event this year. Finally, what people think they hear about their own dogs and the placement is not always what really happened at an event. I am NOT aware of any mistakes in the final catalog, nor was any such issue brought to the attention of the show secretary. We did NOT include pups that were under age but, as a courtesy, allowed them to be shown and an unofficial critique given by the judge. As far as who comes and who does not, or reasons for doing so, frankly, I could care less. We do this for our club and for people who care to avail themselves of the fact that there is a second show in our region. If the show continues to be small, and if I can not afford to pay for it, then it will revert to how it was before I paid for the last several years shows mostly out of my own pocket.....that is, there will be one show and one show only at regionals, IF anyone gives a damn *(which mostly they do not in this region). Many people have attended the shows my club has worked hard to put on and which we have ALWAYS lost money on. Many of them have made it clear they enjoyed the opportunity and the event and those are the people we try to help with providing such an opportunity as showing under outstanding SV judges. I simply reported my first hand experience. Here is the email I sent to Sharyn in December of 2004 about the June 2004 catalog. Sharyn, I have asked nicely about a catalog from your show. My address is (address taken out) . FYI I will report this to USA if I do not receive a catalog in one week's time. Your prompt attention is appreciated. Jennifer Holtgrew The USA office was super and couldn't believe you didn't comply with the request. The director had also received other complaints, so he was not shocked. (my Camp v Muhlteich daughter beat a Nero Nobachtal daughter in the 6-9 and the two Adel Haus dogs were switched in the male class) The paperwork error was not with my dogs, but my friend's. This was my first show. To have my two pups go VP1 was a huge thing for me. Admittedly, that's not a big thing to most, but it sure was for me. I am not bashing you personally nor your kennel. Please try to do the same when dealing with others. Good luck to all, Jennifer
