I was the one on the other post that said that Merrick had been bought out by Purina.. It is really disheartening to read that this happened. I will no longer feed or recommend Merrick. Purina will find a way to ruin it somehow.

After trying one of the freeze dried raw diets with my 7 1/2 year old because it was easier to transport when we were on the road, I am back to Victor and will stay with it. I feed the Yukon River grain free http://www.victordogfood.com/yukon.html

YEP, I am liking the sound of Victor "Yukon River" which is Salmon. Other formulas so, so. Thx for sharing Nan

SO disappointing to hear about Merrick. Sad Smile

Well, it's been 4 years since we've had a dog (after losing Hunter) - so I'm a bit out of the loop obviously.  Thanks for the info!

Certainly won't look at feeding that to our next dog, when the time comes.  UGH.  Thanks again!

I too will not feed anything that Merrick makes anymore. The deal with Purina is not finalized yet, and from what I have heard, and will not be for a couple months. However, I will not support Purina in ANY way.

I too like CANIDAE the grain free line and their non-grain free lin are both very good. I know a few people that feed Canidae and the dogs look great.
Annamaet (sp) dog food is another one I like. Good ingredients and not to high on the protein levels.

I also like the formula of the Victor Yukon however they do not state whether the salmon they use is wild or farmed. There is a huge difference between the two.

Purina will ruin every dog food and do not trust them
THey also make Sam's dog food that everyone brags about.

I use VICTOR also from our local feed store here in Tyler
They have a grain free also and lots of other choices to pick from

Mom uses  Holistic Natural  Nature  made by Sunshine Mills and the Turkey Grain Free by same company

Thanks for sharing your dog food info; want to get it out there what works and what doesn't. All helpful for our animals to keep them healthy and happy. Nan

I have had great success with NutriSource; my dogs love it, they have normal bodily functions, gorgeous shiny coats, and it doesn't break the bank!
